I enjoy all of them to be honest. Nothing beats the originals tho. 123 and 789 compare to 456 is like comparing the LOTR films to the Hobbit films. Both good but not equal in any sense. Plus young Carrie Fisher is hnnnggg!

Harmy's Despecialized Edition is the GOAT
the original trilogy is amazing, but I don't like the reworks Lucas made in later releases

I like the prequels. I'd rank them in the following order:
1) Episode IV A New Hope
2) Episode V The Empire Strikes Back
3) Episode III Revenge of the Sith
4) Episode VI Return of the Jedi
5) Episode I The Phantom Menace
6) Episode II Attack of the Clones
Then the most recent in any order you like because they're all terrible and the movie equivalent of this...

When I was younger I enjoyed the very first Star Wars movie. The other one were OK, but nothing great I can remember thinking.

When Lucas showed Spielberg and a few others the original rough cut of Star Wars, their response was ‘wtf is this sh!t’
I think that’s about right

I remember being lukewarm about Star Wars as a kid, though I would certainly watch the movies if they were on and I read quite a few of the paperback novels. But the older I get the more I dislike the entire series. There are certain themes and elements of the universe that really turn me off, philosophically. Overall I think the whole thing is very very overrated.

Yes, they are definitely worth it. The Original Trilogy is phenomenal, Prequel Trilogy has flaws but they are good and the Sequel Trilogy I basically feel is a spin-off and not Canon but I’d watch them just to say you’ve seen them.
If you want to watch the best Star Wars though check out the Clone Wars TV series, some of the best TV out there without a doubt

Prequels and the originals yes
Sequels avoid most definitely.
But I must warn you that the dialogue in the prequels is pretty weak and extremely cringe at times.
Episode III is a masterpiece though

They are alright, but highly overrated, IMO. Actually, I find the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series much better.

Star Wars got really lucky its sequel was so damn good. Return of the Jedi is also a great movie, but you can start to see some of the faults of the SW series there - Leia being Luke’s sister; Death Star 2.0; Ewoks; etc. etc. But it’s still great enough that it overcomes these faults. If this was the movie that followed the original Star Wars movie and not The Empire Strikes Back, I doubt Star Wars is still as massively popular as it is today.
The prequels are garbage. I don’t get how people are saying they’re better than the sequels (which are also garbage). Everything people are saying about the sequels people said about the prequels 15 years ago.
Here is how I would rank them:
1. The Empire Strikes Back - 9.5/10 (does have a few faults, I find Han and Leia a little bit annoying at times for example, but as near perfect as you get)
2. Star Wars - 9/10 (what can you say about this movie that already hasn’t been said?)
3. Return of the Jedi - 8/10 (great ending, but as I said earlier, has a few huge flaws such as repeating plot points with the Death Star and then you have Ewoks)
4. The Force Awakens - 6/10 (an OK remake of A New Hope)
Honestly the rest are 5/10 and under. All crap. This series just got REALLY, REALLY luck with The Empire Strikes Back and things like Yoda, Boba Fett, “I am your father,” etc. etc. If Star Wars got a generic sequel, then Star Wars just becomes a 1970s phenomenon rather than a cultural phenomenon that beats time.
It blows my mind that they just can’t make a good Star Wars movie anymore. It should be so easy to do so. I think it’s because they can’t let go of the past. The Empire Strikes Back is so great because it introduces so much new stuff, and takes the series in an entirely new direction. The Last Jedi tried this but failed miserably so Rise of Skywalker went right back to Palpatine.
The Mandalorian is a success because it’s doing something entirely new.

I will always love the OG trilogy, so much nostalgia from when I was a kid. Those movies were straight mind blowing at the time. Will always remember my old man taking me to see Return of the Jedi in the theater

No dude when I was a kid I loved star wars and now it's just kiddo stuff to me.
There's actually very little to the movies besides the universe that Lucas creates, which is actually pretty cool but there's not much substance to the movies.
If you're into fantasy and action they're worth a shot but it's not very serious cinema.

Under no circumstance should you watch the latest three movies released (episodes 7, 8 and 9). They are unwatchable. No creativity. Boring. Horrible characters. Just a full on abortion, especially The Force Awakens.

Star Wars is awesome man, definitely watch the original three movies if you don't wanna watch every single movie in the franchise. The original three hold up really well after all these years. Skip Solo, skip the Mandalorian (kinda ass after the first few episodes), skip the entire new trilogy.
