My dad is well connected man and each time the restaurants we go to give us discounts/ free food but he pays the full.

Freeloading is not a good thing. I don't think every single military personnel over there does this though. What a peasant thing.

It is only acceptable for homeless vets etc but if you are doing it for them you shouldn't do that one time a year.

I am retired vet and doing well, I have nothing against homeless vets. I want to help them. I hope they do take full advantage of this day. I think it should be every day.

Have no problem with what you said if by 'they' you are talking about ex-military who are living in absolute poverty. I have bought privates coming from poor families food& stuff (shave gel etc) aswell. We used to save 15% of revenue from military shops and spend it on poor conscripts' needs

Marine corps birthday yesterday. Today is Veterans Day and tomorrow is my actual birthday. Usually it’s a great phuckin time of the year; however, this year I had right ankle surgery 3 weeks ago so I don’t really go anywhere. Sucks.

I never have. I've only worn it in the airport when we were traveling on official orders... people that go out of their way to wear it home at the airport on leave are cringe.
