Looked up their box, seems tacky. Wasn't advocating for Tiffany's, dat's a scam. Buy a 18k lab grown and it will be MUCH bigger and outshine an equivalent 18k from Tiffany's + some random poverty box.

Also, moissanite is an excellent alternative to diamonds and looks almost the same, but you can never tell her it's not diamond. Even the least materialistic girl would despise you, it's just their nature. I'd just buy a lab grown diamond.

I guess having a nice container for the thing is important but spending 18k just for a boxed? Looks like the Tiffany's box is $100-200 on eBay if I'm looking at the right thing.

People can do whatever they want with their money. I personally wouldn't buy something solely for brand name like a dumb sloot. I would maximize what matters, size and shine in a tasteful package.

Diamonds are a total scam, and you also messed up hugely by allowing her to pick the ring out. Now she won't be happy with anything but a 20k ring so she can show it off to all her friends and brag about it. Which let's be real, is what it's for. Enjoy the fact that your wedding will also obviously cost you 100k and it's a party.

At least she's showing her true colour BEFORE you marry her. Unless she's a serious career woman who is going to make bank and/or you're also CEOing it, dump her. I was engaged once (she largely twisted my arm into it), and the ring I got her was less than 2k. I thought even that was stupid, but I let my arm be twisted into that too. JFL @ spending so much money on such trivial things.

In the same sense, a natural diamond may be literally billions of years old and took millions of years to form. If you appreciate craftmanship, then there's nothing that can beat nature's craftmanship of a diamond.

I spent $6,500 on my wife's ring which is what my budget was going into it and most importantly I found an amazing jeweler which I was very happy to give my business to which left me very happy with the overall experience. I would not say "go out and find whatever ring you want". Like anything else in life, have a budget and stick with it.

My wife loves her Moissanite ring. I can’t thank my local jeweler enough for introducing me to moissanite. All said and done I was just over 3,000 for the band and the engagement ring (1 karat stone, white gold). If I had gone with the 1 karat diamond it would have been close to 11,000. The ring is gorgeous, price was great and we were able to put that extra cash to more important things.
