Maybe you are partly right, but automation isn't to that point yet. More or less, automation in one way or another has been replacing jobs since before history was even recorded. The result is more productivity, production, better living for everyone. AI is going to really step it forward, but I don't think we are just going to become do nothings.This. So much this. Someone is going to own it one way or another. If you dig deep enough behind the whole "abolish private property" you'll find someone looking to control.

Start working toward gtfoing the cities now, it is not too late if you push yourself hard and plan carefully. Cut out luxuries (especially vices) and save hard. Work an extra job if you can find one. Skip meals. Cook at home. Fish for free protein if you live near water during your downtime. Do anything legal you can for an extra buck. Take advantage of the cash/barter economy while it's still legal. Accept that your next year or so is going to be gruelling and knuckle down now so the rest of your life doesn't have to be.

If you have any friends who aren't braindead, broken, lazy or dysfunctional and they can see what's coming, discuss pooling your resources and efforts toward this end. Share an acreage and work as a team to get one. Live hard today so you can live free tomorrow. Do not broadcast this on social media or tell your plans to people who don't need to know. Do not expect support from your urbanite family members, friends and colleagues. Expect mockery and even outright hostility if and when they find out. If word gets out and you are harassed by well-intentioned people you should listen politely, say you'll think on it, change the subject and push on.

Look them up and get your weeping done now so when they arrive you don't get waco'd.

If you have friends joining you (and ideally you should) consider coordinating your apprenticeships/courses so you can specialize. Research homesteading and find ways to diversify your income streams using the land you're acquiring. Squeeze the most out of every hour of the day. Leverage your youth and vitality to press on when its tough and you're tired, if you're under 35 you aren't too old to harden the **** up. Your descendants will thank you, assuming you don't let TV and cat lady school teachers raise them for you.

If you're at college or university learning a desk jockey skill, get the **** out and stop throwing good money after bad.

Best case scenario you end up living a more natural and wholesome lifestyle outside the city, preferably with people who have your back. Less money (or what passes for it) but more wealth. Worst case scenario you're landed yeoman rather than serfs under what's looking more and more like a neofeudal future. And if nothing else matters to you but pussy then yes, that will improve your chances down the line.

I think the "you'll own nothing" is more of a prediction for the majority than a threat or something particularly dark

Everything has been trending that way for years for urban populations - you don't own films any more (Netflix), or music (Spotify), or a car (Uber), or software (SAAS), or increasingly property (thanks boomers). Everything you need 'on demand' is just better for a huge amount of people, and the trend of access over ownership is just going to increase. This is because it works better for capitalists by the way not because of "communism"
