I have one, but don't drink tea, really. Not sure what other practical use they have.

People use kettles because boiled water from a microwave tastes very flat. The bubbles from a kettle oxygenate the water.

I use a kettle that goes on the gas stove.

No electric Kettle crew.

Also, what is the point of a garbage disposal in the sink? Is it a citycel thing? What do you put in it?

My wife's parents in the city have one and I have never seen them use it.

Depends. At my house I use my espresso machine for hot water.

Just helps when you're doing a bunch of dishes, breaks all the food remnants down so they pass through the drain easily rather than causing clogs.

Oh, so it is different from a trash compactor type of thing? I see the benefit if it goes down the drain and into a sewer.

JUST Yesterday - I rinsed chicken thighs in the sink and trimmed some of the fat. I peeled carrots over the sink. Prepped onions for chopping. Rinsed a bunch of food out of my blender. When I was done making broth, I had to clean the strainer which had a bunch of bit of gunk stuck in it.

Hit the disposal button for a few seconds and cleanup was done.

Cool, I knew it ground chit up, just didnt know it went down the drain.

i think that's probably the origin, you "get to" be lazy and just scrape plates into the sink instead of having to take the trash out more often which might be more work in the city

idk they seem super controversial but i rarely even have situations where i want to use mine. i'm on septic but i find that it just makes me want to send stuff down the pipes that probably shouldn't be so i end up scraping into the trash anyway

You gots it mayne. We hardly ever use ours but it's helpful when cleaning up after a party or family gathering with a lot more dishes than just the two of us usually produce.

that's actually a good use i didn't think of, i tend to peel potatoes into my little countertop trash can but i could just send em through the disposal

honestly i should be composting it but i don't really have a good setup

Another side bonus that a lot of people don't know about. If you have a relatively minor clog in your drain, you can block the opposite side of your sink, run water on the disposal side, flip it on when full, and it will mildly pressurize the drain pipe, often times clearing whatever minor clog is in there without having to pull apart any piping or run a drain snake through.

I use skip the dishes for boiled water, just lol at you plebs using a kettle or microwave.

If you heat up water in a microwave you might be a serial killer srs. Only time I'd ever use the microwave to heat water would be for instant mac n cheese cups, and reheating an already made coffee.

Put a mug of water inside microwave and turn on high for 5 mins.

Wipe clean. The steam loosens anything that might be stuck to it.
