You're still young enough to do something with your life. My parents didn't start their own business until they were 45 but you're going to have to work your ass off. Do you travel at all? Taking a trip or two overseas would be good on your mental health and to help broaden your perspective. Just don't try to keep up with the Joneses that will never make you happy.

I don’t doubt my potential at all, I just fold under stress tbh. This job I’m at which I was going to be promoted to manager just hasn’t gone to plan. Sucks man. Because I enjoy it.

There isn't freedom, at least not yet. Do I have a boss to answer to, no, but I have clients that I need to keep happy. A reputation in the market to upkeep. Can I fuk off for a day and cancel all my meetings, yes, but that just makes more work when I get back.

Haven't taken a vacation since I started except a couple of long weekends here and there.

I easily put in 60 hours a week fwiw. Grass isn't always greener.

I’m still partying every weekend with my boys, working casual with flexible hours, travelling overseas, and getting hit on by 18 year olds out at the club. Some may call me a loser still doing this at 29, but I guarantee they’re the ones who are unhappy, busting their ass in a 9-5 job, dealing with a nagging wife/kids and having no freedom to enjoy themselves whatsoever.

Don’t take life so seriously brah, none of us are getting out alive. And nobody is going to give a toss how successful you were when you’re 6 feet under. Can’t take any of it with you to your grave. Hence why I choose to what makes me happy, and not what society expects of me.

What makes someone happy is a very personal thing. I'm 32, "busting my ass in a 9-5 job", with a wife, and a kid on the way - couldn't be happier. Partying, getting wasted, clubbing, hitting on 18 year old sloots - none of that has any appeal to me whatsoever; I did all those things in my early twenties and now I have zero interest in them. Honestly, in hindsight, I kind of wasted my twenties by doing all those things. I can pretty much guarantee you that you'll eventually get bored of that lifestyle as well. We do travel a lot though, that's fun.

As far as not having any "freedom", you get the life you build. If your wife's nagging is driving you up a wall, you married the wrong woman. If your 9-5 makes you want to slit your wrists, you should find a different job. People should spend less time complaining about their lives and more time fixing them.

Bro, if you think kids will all the sudden give you this extra motivation, I think you are sorely mistaken.
The formula to success starts very early on and takes time to cultivate. Sure there are 1 in a million over night stories, but for the most part it doesn't happen like that.
For most that are successful, it started in middle school. But its NEVER too late, just dont expect however to grind for a few years then BOOM, things are awesome all the sudden.

If you have any financial strain right now, getting married and having kids will more than likely make things even more difficult.
At 29 I was single, well into my career and close to 7 figures in assets. At 25 my trust fund GF at the time that was living in my house gave me an ultimatum to get married and I walked because I knew I wasnt ready mentality and financially.

Marriage gets a bad wrap (not just on this forum). The problem really isnt marriage, its really the who and when that are the contributors to marriage being either great or a disaster.

Here is my problem with a 9-5 (assuming you have to be present for the entire time in some way) while having a kid. You are literally giving up 66% of your life away from your kid. 33% to sleep and 33% to that working environment.
I ensured I wouldnt have any kids until I was financially free from having to depend on someone for an income.

As wings mentioned ^, I'm the complete opposite.

The older I get the more my success and work compounds. Refinanced the house for a joocy low rate. My investments are really taking off and I can see myself hitting a million in the market much sooner then I anticipated. My living expenses due to the refinance have actually gotten lower over the years and I'm earning more money then ever. I'm still working over-time but purely so I can invest that money. Etc.

I really recommend Dave Ramsey's process. And it doesn't sound like you are ready for marriage and kids.
