You start something, keep doing and never quit.
That's what matters the most.

True self esteem comes from your childhood and teenage years. If you were happy and goodlooking and confident and popular during the first 20 years of your life that foundation will always stay with you.
If you were not naturally happy and goodlooking and confident and popular during your formative years then nothing you do afterwards can really make up for that. Not bodybuilding and not career and not money.

I was a bit weird noon-confident for a long time and really got comfortable with my self in the last year, especially from 2021-onwards.

Its crazy how many hypocritical beliefs you have, guess thats what you can expect when youre 45 wishing you were 22 fighting reality
No "you" and your eastern philosophy is grounded in completely the opposite; more the basis for neuroplasticity than anything. Your ability to conjure or contemplate no "you" is evidence for neuroplasticity; going from a normal, breathing human being with normal operating brain functions to thinking theres no "you"

I doubt people with a truly messed-up self-esteem will make it far as lifters honestly. There are just too many pitfalls for somebody like that: giving up due to a lack of patience, egolifting to impress strangers and hurting themselves, starting celltech way too early without any knowledge and messing up their hormonal profile etc.
Lifting needs at least some smarts and patience.

the only one i really know enough about their early life was arnold and he hardly had low self esteem and he would have been a chad in his 20s even if he didnt lift. Theres also a lot of manlets in pro bodybuilding but he was pretty tall for the time as well.

Started bodybuilding/strenght training for sports, then loved it and because the gym is open basically 24/7 it’s A LOT easier to incorporate into a schedule than sports.

Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

I started lifting around 5-6th grade in order to prepare for football. My older brother had been lifting so I followed his example and lifted very lightly until I reached high school, as it can be unhealthy to lift a lot at a very young age.
My goal is strength training above all else. I've lifted with bodybuilders who do competitions that are based on aesthetics, but my goal has always been strength and the benefits of strength: Prolonged life, expanded physical limits, self-improvement, and many other benefits.
I agree, if people focused more on physical fitness in general then people would be happier. A lot of people's emotional issues are rooted in their dissatisfaction with their physical self within an increasingly shallow materialist society. It takes a strong mind to continuously work and build upon the painful progress of strength training.
