Millionaire next door covers this well. Jobs in finance and law where you must keep up the appearances of wealth to look successful often leads to spending habits that are high income but poor in assets


I have some friends in banking like this. Clear 6 figures easily but are more paycheck reliant than people making half their income.

The big dollar items that eat away at them are getting tied up in luxury car payments, home renovations, expensive mortgages, and childcare costs.

All are throwing money away with no chance at return, on things that aren’t even superior to an average product.

My salary has never effected how much I've gotten laid. I've made everywhere from $9 to 6 figures a year.

The first few years I was making decent money I rushed to rent my own place and have the privacy that goes with it etc. it was not worth it. After a year I moved back with my family
Who still had space because I was pissing away good money and equity. So granted I was getting free room. In this time I was able to save so much money because I was making only about 30k on the books as w2 income. But I was also making about 30k as 10-99. And my accountant was very good and able to deduct things so that almost all of my 10-99 income was tax free. You get a standard deduction then I’d take car equipment everything possible. And at 30k of the standard income you pay almost zero taxes anyways. If you are making deductions this big you need an accountant to stamp it or you’re going to get audited no matter what people say, I’ve known people who got audited for doing their own taxes and just taking a large auto deduction. So I was getting to pocket everything I made and saved up so much money and had good number of days off etc. now I have to work a lot more but my overhead is so much higher and I have far more responsibility so I honestly miss those days.

I do agree if you go around telling girls what you make, you should stop. But people, not just girls, can easily pick up on your level of "comfort" and that is appealing to them.

Look at your next statement Solid place = takes money.
BUying things without being concerned = takes some money
Its the little details that help me establish whether someone is just getting by, making decent money and faking it, making a lot of money and living low, or making a lot of money and making it rain. With the details, you can tell where someone is with a pretty decent amount of accuracy

Nah I'm realistic. I used to work in healthcare IT and made around $60k a year before doing what I am now. I always felt secure as a single guy. Never worried about a weekend outing, saved money, etc. The misc is retarded and their opinions on $$ isn't reality
Technology sales. SaaS specifically with a lot higher head room to move up to the $500k mark for high achievers after maybe 10 years.
