. 225 for reps is not alot, even for a 160lb you should be hitting that for 5 reps after 2 years. I hit 265 for high reps and my bench is one of my weakest lifts, it took me a while to get there but 225 for a single is an elementary level in my opinion.
lol at thinking "information" makes a massive difference.

225 for 5 reps at 160 is damn impressive if natty, that's in the "Advanced" category if you go by typical online strength standards. And I always treat those as well with some skepticism as you so rarely see people lift the numbers in those tables. I think these "strength standards" are estimated from self-reported data which is going to have the same problem as self-reported data for dink size. If you'd measure it in a controlled study in a random sample of lifters, those numbers would drop. If you'd drug test everyone and only study the nattys, the numbers would drop further.

Even if you don't barbell bench press, there will still be transferable carryover if you do another movement like dumbells or whatever, so your entire post was invalid you fukin non lifting piece of incel chit. If you are Incline pressing 110s for high reps, youre gonna be able to flat bench 225
Mate, not tryin be a dink here but you actually dont know what you’re talking about.

DB incline press for example, is a great hypertrophy movement. And no, your barbell bench press is not needed to get ‘transferrable strength’ to DB incline press.

To simplify it for your small brain, your time is better spent doing DB incline press (for example) to get stronger than do barbell bench press to get transferrable strength to DB incline press.

OP did a good job, he likes barbell bench press and he did it. Your strength in this specific movement will depend on a lot of factors (such as your arm’s length, clavicle , etc etc)

This is bodybuilding, there are no requirements to do SBD or have certai SBD numbers.

For the last time, it’s fine if you don’t chit about fk, best to keep your mouth shut.

Zyzz max bench was like 250 after years of lifting. Zyzz shouldn’t have been posting here in the height of his fame by your logic

Benching 2 plates for 5 reps is definitely impressive for a 160 lber. Most guys who have trained for a few years could, at least based on projections, bench 2 plates for a single. But it's not common for guys to be benching 225 lbs or more for their working sets, at least not in commercial gyms.

As for dumbbell and barbell, if you're proficient at both you'll be able to progressively overload much better with a barbell setup. On a related note, part of the reason why people have dogchit carryover from dumbbells to barbell is because they have absolutely terrible depth on their dumbbell pressing.

jesus, lol. No, the mechanics of BB bench press are different and so is the range of motiong compared to incline DB preas.

Stick to incel and zyzz legacy type threads, it’s a better fit.

You don't need to be a powerlifter or bloatmaxxer to get a 225 bench within your first year of lifting (although if you're a full grown man it should take less). Hitting 225 within a year is something highschool freshmen commonly do lol.

Thanks for stickin up for me man. reps on RC. Glad to know there are still some well intentioned blokes around here. I know a lot of strong dudes, so i def ain’t the strongest. But for my weight i feel it’s pretty good. Almost 1.5 times my bodyweight which is pretty good by the standards i think

Used to have the same problem. Start hanging from a bar to stretch your shoulders out. And keep your elbows in close when benching, grip not too wide. Also do face pulls. Haven’t had ANY shoulder issues for years now. Also don’t max out every weeek.

Sounds like you've come a long way, man. Has fitness been an important part of your recovery process? I've heard that it can help since it kind of forces people to maintain a decent schedule and diet outside of the gym. How long were you in rehab for and what got you to that point?

Yeah, without fitness I’d probably be dead, no lie. It’s the only thing that kept me going. And you are right, it encourages a good diet which increases well being and mental clarity.

Heroin addiction is a dark thing my man, I only went to rehab once, not too long i guess. But I kept relapsing and losing everything, then starting all over. Including my gainz
