What mortality would motivate you to support lockdowns?

There could be an alien invasion with a 99.9% chance of anyone who doesn’t submit to a lockdown dying and I would still do whatever I wanted. And chances are if the government is using an event to implement tyranny, they created that event in the first place.
The government is ALWAYS the problem, and NEVER the solution

I don’t support lockdowns no matter the mortality rate.
People should have a choice.

i don't really care about death rates, it's moreso now that ICUs are literally full locally
this should have been the driving statistic the whole time and you might have seen compliance, now that everyone's sick of being told what to do while ICUs are empty, they've stopped caring and if i get in a car wreck, i might be left to die because there's nowhere to put me
letting people do as they please until ICUs hit, i don't know, 80%+ then tightening up would have been a logical response but politicians got drunk on the power and moved the goalposts too many times to get compliance

In America you just don't follow the rules you don't want to. The government knows they have no power over you, at least in the conservative states. If you live in a leftist state you're ****ed.

The current virulence is more than enough to justify certain lockdowns.
The numbers being tossed around ITT, assuming the same rate of spread as covid, would be apocalyptic scenarios.

Not sure I can put a number on it. Can’t even compare it to the actual number since that’s been bullsh!t since the beginning.
I’d have to actually know and see people getting sick and dying left and right for me to support a lockdown. And we’re not even remotely close to that.
My wife “finally” knows someone who died from COVID. He contracted pneumonia and died from that. Was on a respirator. Looked fairly old. ~70. It’s sad. But even his wife and son say pneumonia killed him, not COVID. His wife caught COVID also, but recovered fairly quickly. I don’t personally know these people.

I don’t think I would be mad if it occurred in the 5-10% range either.
Like... I know not everyone is comfortable with the same level of death. My range 10-15% is probably right but I could understand if things shut down in the 5-10 range too. I wouldn’t be happy but I’d understand it and accept it.
This sh*t is ridiculous this year though and I’ve lost all respect for other human beings in 2020.
F*ck all of you now
Edit:
And for anyone believing the death rate for covid is 1% it’s more like 0.1%
Tagging everything as a covid death not to mention the extremely high number of undocumented cases makes the true death rate very minuscule

I will never support lockdowns, they are unconstitutional and unethical.
I support CDC and other scientific agencies putting forth recommendations. Recommendations which I can ignore or apply as appropriate to my health and those I interact with. Recommendations are not illegal lockdowns or forced masks.
The best question would be at what mortality rate would people choose to isolate themselves? For me at around 10% for young healthy adults I'm going to basement dweller mode. At bubonic levels (1 out 4 adults dead) I'm GTFO to my remote cabin.
Every person has the right to determine what level of risk they are willing to accept and what precautions are appropriate to protect themselves. People will do what they have to to survive, or they die, it really is that simple.

Let's pretend that there is a deadly communicable disease that can be contracted only by swimming in a certain lake. But it only kills 20-29 year old men.
Should I be allowed to swim in that lake, knowing it's safe for me, but possibly bringing it to our place of work and killing you? Or should that lake be fenced off because people can't be trusted to make non selfish decisions?

In the case of COVID you are talking about fencing off the world, which doesnt work.
Im not advocating for people to go and cough on granny in the nursing home, i would tell people to not go near those that are most likely to die. The people most likely to die should be the ones making the most drastic lifestyle changes to survive. You cannot make the world safe for everyone, people will die, it's a fact of life. I wouldnt presume to make that decision for old people either, if granny wants to see her grandson and dies that was her choice too.
Of course people make selfish decisions, everyone does. You do it, I do it, it's in my best interests to be selfish.
Everyone makes decisions based on self-preservation, some choose poorly and die. Not factoring it into decision making is a decision itself.
Nor am I saying that the recommendations are all bad, we cant all conduct research. We all have to rely on someone else for information and then base our decisions on that data.
Death is a harsh mistress, she spares none and her lessons are conclusive.
