Um, people are being frozen while still alive? Wut?

would need to be frozen while still alive no? wouldn't that make it easier?

Yes, it's completely pointless. Even if they found a cure for whatever killed you, they'd have to find ways to also bring your body out of its frozen state whilst reparing the damaged DNA/proteins/etc. done by ice crystals, as well as magically reverse the process of death itself besides just the disease/illness/condition that did you in.
Hell, the odds of a place still even being in commission for the crazy length of time it would take to pull all that off (if it were even possible in the first place) are awful. Only a handful of places even do it. Only the stupidly rich can even hope to afford it, and eventually their extended relatives down the line won't give a chit and will have the bs project terminated in favor of a proper burial/body remains disposal method to quit wasting money on it.

Secondly, the 2nd law of thermodynamics states the entropy of aclosed systemincreases over time, and what exactly do living beings do? Resist increases in entropy by taking free energy from the environment and increasing the entropy of the universe (i.e, we take low entropy energy from the sun, resisting increases in entropy in our body, but increase the entropy of the universe via waste). Living beings exists within the universe, so they can decrease their own entropy, but the overall entropy of the universe must go up. Living beings are not a closed system.
You can decrease entropy locally by putting free energy into a system, but then it increases the entropy outside. That's the whole concept of using free energy. But while the sun burns in our region of the galaxy, and we have access to free energy we can absolutely decrease entropy locally... if we couldn't life wouldn't exist.

Imagine being woken up in the future to find that although you and your memories have been perfectly preserved, due to an apprentice mistake at the facility, your penis fell off while you were frozen.
Humans have moved on so every single woman is a stone cold stunner, they all love doggy style and there is no need for condoms any more or even saying anything, you just bend one over and start banging away Viking style.
You donโt have a penis.

You'd have to be frozen at nigh on absolute zero instantaneously.
This biggest problem is the crystalisation of Ice destroying cellular machinary, regardless of phase.
Super cooling with repiration of 100% O2 in a higher density chamber could theoretically expand your life times significantly however, you'd remain 'alive' but respiration would be minimal, still most probably serious consequences for brain tissue

cryonics is not pointless. it can be done inexpensively via a life insurance policy (i.e. as an alternative to burial or cremation).
if technology continues to improve (and civilization isn't annihilated by communism in the meantime), one day we should be able to revive and treat cryonics patients.
cryonics is the most benevolent and life-affirming choice when it comes to dealing with yourself or loved ones after passing away.
afterlife or no, we were put on this planet for a reason, and I intend to make everything out of this chance that I can. I love my life and want it to improve and continue to go on as long as possible.

patients have technically "died" that could have been revived after that point, but we simply didn't have the technology available to revive them (like defibrillators, etc.). putting someone "on ice" (via the best available cryonics procedures) while we wait for a solution to their problem to come along makes complete sense

No country civilized enough to even ponder the idea of freezing bodies for some hopeful future of reviving them would ever allow someone not legally pronounced dead to be frozen. Even if tbey did let people to elect to be frozen prior to death, that freezing process would kill them anyway. In fairness a company that has a bunch of frozen corpses in vats aren't going to just turn them off without massive public uproar. The only reason people even entertain this crap is because they watch too many sci-fi movies. That and chit like Star Wars movies. No, you are not coming back to life from a frozen state like Han Solo or some chit. Now move along and enjoy this life while you have it.
Either way, I don't get the point of it. Even if they did figure out how to basically overcome all the ridiculous obstacles of such a process to the point of reviving a frozen dead person and giving them a quality life, all their family/friends and chit would be gone. They'd basically be science exhibits with whatever life they were left with upon revival. Then there'd be the questions of what type of unknown issues would arise a time after their revival. The entire practice is a bunch of unethical horse chit, really.

whats the point of being frozen only to wake up a hundred years later w/o any friends and family, no money, and everything you know is obsolete.
now if it was like demolition man and you get to learn **** will being frozen, then at least you would have a chance of not being a futuristic hobo
