Don't give a chit if the trip is 5 minutes or 5 hours. Not my fault their employer doesn't pay them a living wage. My tip is purely based on my own satisfaction with their service. Delivery drivers aren't providing me anything other than their job and are definitely not making my experience any better or worse with their personality. Majority of them get $5 + change. Don't care.

Classic psychology of setting new standards. Person A does something for free or routine and doesn't expect a bonus. Person A starts getting small rewards for free but still doesn't expect anything. Person A starts getting consistent rewards and starts to get used to this result. Person A now feigns not wanting anything but is instantly triggered if new standard of results is not issued.

And this my friends, is one of the many reasons I'm done with restaurants as a whole (except on special occasions).

Not only do you have to overpay for the food you're eating, you're paying for tips too. And if it's a sit down restaurant the commute has a cost. And if you're doing delivery then you've got delivery fees and tips.

F that.

Goes for fast food restaurants too. Hard to leave McDonalds without dropping $12. I can buy lean burger patties, wheat buns, reduced fat cheese, and eat both healthier and like 200% cheaper per Calorie.

Can go on and on with this crap. Restaurants are dumb.
