Depends on the relationship with the child and the overall dynamic of the relationship. Perhaps she wants someone to call her their daughter and not step-daughter. A child's mind is vulnerable and hopefully he's doing this for positive reinforcement and is sure it's not bothersome or counterproductive to the child's psyche. In any event it's not really my place to comment on another man's family so it's not really my business.

I like Scott Herman and this is pretty normal behavior if that’s been the standard since he married mom.

I don’t call my step dad dad, I wouldn’t have an issue though. He basically raised me. He’s my dad. But he never came at it like that. He let us choose.
