I think most of us with an understanding of addiction read right past that chit. You know he posts this motivational bs incessantly on his social media but is too dumb and socially awkward to understand it doesn't belong in a conversation about addiction.

been sober for over 4 years, by the end it was pretty bad. I was basically ruining my life even though I had a lot going for me which helps. I would try to stop for years but once friday came I was off to buy alcohol like I was on auto pilot and would just drink mostly by myself (and some whores) and do stuff I regretted. Im not really sure how I did it tbh, after one weekend which was not really any different or worse then countless others I just stopped. It was almost like divine intervention, I still dont really know what happened. I just started thinking about life, my past, imagining how my life will look if I continue down this path and what my life could look like if I stopped. now my life is 10000x better and I dont really ever feel like drinking. Just worried sometimes that the switch in my brain will go back.

4. limit drinks to 1-2 per hour max with a nightly max of 6 (sip).
problem is that you can do some seriously fukked up shiz blacked out once a week that will ruin you, it doesnt matter how often you do it for some people, but what you do when drunk

i just stopped a few days ago so i can cut

it's incredible how much better i'm sleeping

my recommendation would be for you to figure out how many drinks you usually have and then taper down from there, subtracting 1 drink per day until you reach (or get close to) zero

i always taper on my own because once i flip the switch, there's zero temptation (21 claws in my fridge rite now hehe)

if you can't control yourself though, ask a friend/family member to dispense the day's amount

alcohol withdrawal is no joke. the insomnia alone is fukked

I'm the same way. I think because I don't get out socially as much as I'd like, I tend to get into kind of a party mindset at home sometimes. Maybe it's something I'm watching on TV, or maybe I've cranked up some music, and it seems like time to get a buzz on and make a fun event of it. The problem is that oftentimes the party mindset results in me having more than a couple and ending up pretty drunk by myself (pretty sad).

As far as advice, it kind of depends on what your actual situation is, although the tips GordonXXX posted earlier ITT are very good. If this is really frequent and you're craving alcohol specifically, you might need to take different measures or seek more professional help than if it's more occasional and you don't have trouble saying no to the drinks if you think about it before starting.

For me, I can easily decide to just not drink any alcohol at all for an indefinite period, but it's easy for me to go overboard when I do have drinks. Part of my issue is that I have sort of an 'addiction' to drinking liquids in general, not just alcohol. I tend to be drinking something - coffee, water, flavored sparkling water, Diet Coke - almost continuously throughout the day if I'm home or at the office. I tend to stop while I'm out and about to grab a Monster or a coffee for the road. If it happens to be alcohol that I get started on on a particular day, that reflexive refilling of my cup or reflexive pursuit of a new bottle or can when the current one is empty kicks in. That can get problematic really fast, because I'll just piss a ton if it's water but get unnecessarily drunk if it happens to be alcohol.

Sober for years crew, best decision ever, srs.

brb gains way better than ever before
brb holy chit I can remember stuff now
brb damn I'm sleeping through the night
brb 1000+ calories a day gone overnight
brb got a new job/promoted to management within a year due to being able to perform 10x better
brb I'm never "sick"

So many benefits. I don't recommend buying non-alcoholic beer, it will just make you miss the buzz and you won't stick to it. Just fuking quit, don't buy it - let your boys know that you are serious about being sober so they don't pressure you if you're hanging out or whatever.
First few days are the hardest, but every day after that gets easier and easier.

Don’t think about “giving up” alcohol, because then you’ll think you’re depriving yourself. You clearly don’t enjoy alcohol or else you wouldn’t want to stop. Think about quitting, or better yet escaping alcohol. There’s no benefit to drinking so there’s nothing to give up.
