Paper/metal cash? Zero, only time I handle physical money is after bringing bottles in for recycling

Got anywhere up to $20k floating in the account for tax purposes etc

I keep a year and a half worth of cumulated monthly expenses...

In my current job/title it can take me up to a year to find a new position.

Some people claim its silly to keep that much liquid but I like my house and I like to eat. In addition this level of cash allows me to be true to myself at my current job. I dont have to sacrifice my ethics because I will lose my house in a few months if I have to immediately walk from the job.

I imagine an emergency savings of $20k with $10k cash on hand is more than enough in most situations unless we go into hyper inflation or drop rock bottom.

Physical paper money? I think I have $5 in my wallet. If I need cash I just ask my husband and he pulls it out of his wallet, but I don’t know how much he carries in it at any given time.
