I actually had a home phone service that only allowed something like 20 outbound calls a month because that was the least expensive. No cable or internet, just an old 13" TV w/no remote and a rabbit ear antennae. A sofa, chairs, and a desk from a used furniture store plus bed and dresser from my bedroom living w/my mom. Cans of RTE soup, Totino's $1 pizza and Patio 3/$1 burritos, bread, milk, cereal, that really cheap thin lunch meat, jar of PB and a jar of jelly...

Fully broke no, but being on the edge gives you some adrenaline and makes you appreciate stuff more. Also the urge to fight for something. Being super rich is probably boring as hell - what do you fight for when you have it all? Simpler life has it's benefits - sometimes i wish I had low standards, people seem happier when they don't want much from life.

When I went out in the world in 2003, we were broke. All out furniture was hand me down. My car was a 1997 Buick skylark.

Moved to Colorado and an instant pay raise. Still times where we had to dip into savings at the end of the month, and use the credit card to buy things. Still had to buy cheap grade furniture, etc.

Finally started in 2019, I got a promotion and my wife got a job. We aren't rich (about ($120k). We bought a $6k furniture set with a lifetime warranty. We bought a brand new car for the first time in our relationship. Zero credit card debt and we are moving the numbers on the saving account higher and higher

A gratitude journal has been one of the best things I've ever done.

You have to be grateful every single day for what's you have in your life.

For example, yesterday I was eating steak and potatoes, and I remember a time I couldn't afford to buy meat in the supermarket. I was immensely grateful for that.

I actually don’t even miss my early 20’s. Was broke, extremely injured for several years, and addicted to opioids. I’m in much better shape, way healthier, have way more energy, and have way more money than I did in my 20’s.
