It's a good investment when it's PHYSICAL silver. Look into that, i don't have the time to explain rn, but tl'dr - paper silver (stocks) are not accurate representation of the availability of physical silver.

I have stacked some silver bullion and believe it to be undervalued. Buying at $12 an ounce was a complete no brainer. It still has a lot of room to move upwards.
Again, physical silver is your best bet for maximum value.

Exactly. This is the point. People are buying physical silver because the supply is limited.

The point with silver is not whether or not it's a good investment.
It's that the moment you buy silver, you are putting money in Citadel's pocket, so they will be able to cover their short on GameStop. That's why people are saying not to buy it - because you're just funding them again.

I'm holding on to GME and NOK - GME for the squeeze, NOK for long game. I think NOK is undervalued but wtf do i know. /tard

1. The reason silver is not worth more than it's current value is because mainstream hasn't seen it as valuable as gold. Many of the silver channels on YouTube have turned into crypto channels so an argument can be made for crypto taking money away from silver.
2. The silver is a byproduct so supply is abundant BUT only if the other metals (copper, zinc, etc...) are mined. And that only happens in a booming economy which we dont have.
3. If people buy the physical metal rather than SLV, then yes silver price will skyrocket similar to what we've seen in GMC or bitcoin but it's a giant task too big even for reddit IMO, you need your average citizen to buy.
4. Everything goes in cycles. 90-00 stocks made great gains, PM underperformed. 00-11 PM had great gains, stocks underperformed. 11-19 stocks had, you get the picture. This decade will benefit PM holders similar to what has been done in the past. You can see the writing on the wall (excessive money printing, stocks overvalued, economy shutting down (depression like status)).
For the average investor and long term holder no get rich quick scheme, PM is a great investment.

Good post^

And we should aim to divorce the price of phony paper silver and physial silver. It´s not the same thing. Or maybe we shouldn´t, but the comex could be forced to default if everyone demanded the real physical thing.

Just reminding everyone that literally every store is sold out within an hour of me of .999 fine silver.

I found one dealer with coins but not many left. No morgans, no peace dollars either all ****coins like dimes.

Crypto is digital gold. I love crypto and it is flawless.

I have alot of it.

You can't print a BTC just like you can't print a bar of silver. My portfolio is betting against the USD and against the stock market right now.

And crypto is easily accessible where as bullion is not but it still falls under the same principle. It is a currency free of printing. Both crypto and bullion are good.

Crypto is not digital gold, crypto is crypto. It's an asset in itself. I do hold some but more so as a speculative bet, not as a store of value (my opinion personally). Rather than derailing this thread into a gold vs crypto debate, I agree that a person should hold both. The world is going digital and cashless (I think we can both agree on that) so having assets that cant be seen (gold) and one that can not be duplicated (crytpo) would serve one well.

People are printing silver every time they pull some out of the ground. Demand has never outpaced supply and it never will.

Go to page one I linked sources that show the silver output and silver input per year. We only produce 800moz and use 900moz if I remember correctly.

Is my logic flawed boys? Is physical silver not worth at least 70$ USD per OZ currently? I mean no one will give you that but that's my prediction to where this is going.

Good argument Ratfish, repped.

My counter arguments:

They use silver at a rate faster then is produced. This rate is expected to increase as well.

The all in sustaining cost to make gold per oz is 700$ yet gold bullion is going for 1.9k per oz this week.

Do we know how many silver mines are potentially shut down right now and could be re-opened? Obviously if silver production can be hugely ramped up then buying it is foolish. This is what we need to know.

Sources:

I wish to correlate these sources with other sources. I believe in mutliple sources. If anyone can find reliable data on production vs use yearly I would greatly appreciate it.

my argument would be that you should buy whichever metal is closest to its AISC instead of paying a hype premium

that metal is platinum currently srs

Betting on metal is betting against the dollar and against the market. I think any metal is good right now, silver is the most accessible. Except for right now when it's out of stock: there will be silver again, this is just like the toilet paper phase. But the production looks like it was ramped up huge in recent years and it still can not meet the demand. I think there's merit in saying that silver could become more scarce if they don't starting using another metal in technology.

As far as betting against the market and betting against the dollar:

Are we in a time right now where the market seems weak? Yes

Why is the market weak? Inflated stock prices not correlating with current trends: We've been in a pandemic and flying a ghost ship for a year, why is our market so high, we are producing less and spending more?

Does the dollar seem weak? Yes

Why is it weak? Massive printing and debt

But keep in mind the USA is special. Our dollar is tied to our military strength as well. You must take our foreign policy into consideration when factoring the value of a dollar. We have a bigger stick and we use it. This is why we are strong boys, never forget it.

So a bet against the dollar isn't great in the long-term. These are mid-term plays boys.

There are so many things to consider here but I feel physical silver is a super safe bet right now. for many reasons i've laid out in this post and the posts before it.

well, for one thing, you can't buy it

secondly, if you do buy it, you're going to be north of 40/toz for physical

there is a complete bifurcation of physical vs. paper price

After leaving the Misc a long time ago in a bitter temper tantrum, OP has come back to the Misc to get everyone to pump up silver so he can dump it and get out.
When Trump faces a reality she can't stand, she becomes highly emotional and illogical. Every crisis is met by histrionics, tantrums and an inability to deal with facts. "Its a HOAX! Its a FRAUD!"

The emotion then becomes the reality. Those of us with girlfriends are familiar with this phenomena. Donald Trump menstruating 24/7: "Blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his WHEREVER."

This actually makes a stong case for owning gold.
1. Silver has moved from a monetary metal to a more industrial metal. Roughly 30% of mined silver is used for bars/coins, and 70% is industrial.
2. Silver will not become scarce, if price goes up to say $50oz there would be many people selling their old silver jewelry and silverware. Old silver-containing products might be more economical to retract silver from at higher prices too. Also mines would be more inclined to ramp up production.
3. In the event of a currency reset or dollar collapse, banks hold gold, no silver or crypto.
4. Stock to flow ratio of gold is like 60 last time I checked and silvers is closer to 10 meaning not much above ground silver because it's not seen as valuable. Copper and cotton are closer to 1.

Someone once said "golds price can be stretched and placed high as whatever price we need because it has no other use then as a store of value".

With silver being the 2nd most used commodity in the world, not so much.

Both are good for their own reasons, but to preserve wealth only one reigns supreme.
