I’m a libertarian but I think the argument with these tech companies is that they’ve become a utility and/or a media company essentially.I’m not an expert on the subject but from what I believe once you cross over into those sectors then there is a level of protection to free information and transparancy that is required.

I think you misunderstand the issue. These are two separate topics and issues.


Social media has become the medium for communication, all humans use it. Look at us. It's the new public square. This effectively means if a person or group of people control the public square, the population is very susceptible to manipulation. You see a lot of this going on these days. Uncle Ben's car repair shop laws don't apply to companies who have so much power over the entire culture.

The Supreme Court has a long history of regulating private companies to comply with fundamental liberties, to include 1st and 14th amendments (commerce clause).

Your masterpiece cakeshop example is misguided, and I can tell by these boiler plate responses you are way out of your element. Specifically, that case was a result of a state law that prohibited discrimination of same sex marriages, which is a constitutional right. Freedom of religion is also a fundamental right, hence the impasse.

I also bet you didn’t know those crybabies went to 20+ different cake shops to find someone to refuse them so they had an excuse to make a stink. Typical liberal behavior.

People freely chose Twitter and Google. There's no gun to anyone's head saying you must use Twitter. They got to where they were by providing a product people liked and was better than their competition. Now you wan to come in and tell them how to operate because you don't like their decisions.

You don't have a right to use someone elses property how you deem fit because you feel they are unfair. Life is unfair.

If the right wants to start winning again, they need to have a core ideology. Now, they're pretty much just an opposition party to the Democrats.

I noticed after Trump won in 2016, all of the sudden a lot of "conservatives" started loving the low interest rates and QE, because muh stock gains.

Or how 'conservatives' want to regulate big tech because they are unfair to them.

Or how dangling stimulus checks in front of the right suddenly makes them into socialists. "bbbut I'm just getting my taxes back!" Your taxes were spent on roads, defense, or handed out to someone else, there's no "getting it back." The govt is literally taking out loans for these handouts that'll totally screw over our children's generation.

Small govt, free market conservatism is where the right needs to rally around. Not this Qanon conspiracy theory, stop the steal, regulate big tech, opposition is the only thing they're about party that the Republican party has become.
