I bought 8k more 2h ago. I wouldn’t try to time the market specially right now because it probably won’t get back down any time soon. And if it did just buy again. Keep buying as much as you can

That's what I'm thinking. If I can do $500/month while still doing $500/month in vanguard. Got $1100 coming back in taxes so I'll probably throw $700 or so into BTC. I have $400 in PLTR that I may sell, not sure.

since btc is finite what happens if someone dies while hoarding a massive amount of it? will it just further diminish the already small amount in circulation adding increased value? or is there some backdoor that btc can come and scoop that **** up

One thing i learned that hard way specially recently. Once you buy something do not sell until end of bull market. I made the mistake like 5x that cost me like 30k at this point by swapping it for another coin because its to slow or selling early and then regretting. Best to hold until the end so never mad at self.

I'm pretty skeptical hippo about all this crypto stuff in general. That said, I'm putting some excess money to work buying ETH at this point. It's not quite as scarce as BTC, but it's the main medium of exchange for some of these De-Fi applications that are coming up. I don't think these things will take off to the point some of the crypto-shills claim they will (i.e. some people are literally calling it the biggest invention since the interwebs), but I think there are use cases for smart contracts and whatnot down the road. If that happens, ETH price will rise so long as the demand for contracts exceeds the limited number of ETH minted per day.

BTC & ETH are long term holds for me anyway tbh. I'm hoping to catch a cheap altcoin though.

In the end, all BTC will be out of circulation rendering the network useless. This is the cold harsh truth bitcoiners try to squirmish away from. It´s not sustainable long term, ergo, we should not put our faith in it. It´s foolish and absurd to support something which is not sustainable. Thats the bottom line

No, you don´t get it. It can´t be fixed without forking to a complete new chain, and removing the max supply cap. In 100 years from now, more than 90% of bitcoin will likely be lost and liquidity will be super low. 200 years, every bitcoin will likely be lost. There will be no btc left to transact with, what then? You see, it´s a scam because the price would have to rise and rise as more coins get lost.
Classic textbook scarcity scam. Fukk humans are stupid as fukk. How is no one pointing out this? just lol, everyone is falling for a scam, waht a clown show.

Yes, but it doesn´t make it any less true.

Yall don´t see it, but I do. This is a good vs evil battle, and as time goes on, this will become more clear. Bitcoin represents evil. I represent good

Lost BTC will become a rarity. And whether the total supply is 21M or 1M is completely irrelevant. It has nothing to do with liquidity.

BTC would have worked just as well if it had a small fixed inflation indefinitely. But it's not a big deal one way or the other.

If this is true, it is true for any investment.

It's true for any speculative investment, although speculation in stonks at least generally revolves around companies providing real value to the world through their goods/services. And speculation can sometimes help companies access cheaper capital etc, providing further value through growth

Wanting to get rich and retire off what really amounts to doing nothing, that seems like pure greed. Is that not a fair assessment?

Keep buying at the dips is all I can say. I bought in at 26k in 2018 or so, then it dropped. I never sold, but of course I can't find where the hell I sent the bitcoin. I had transferred it to another exchange to buy some altcoin I can't remember.

Now I'm starting from scratch. But in the grand scheme, just buy the dip

With my current understanding of BTC, or any crypto for that matter, I don't think it's worth it to funnel money into unless it's part of your "volatile investment" fund, or otherwise a "gambling" fund. A good way to live is put 90% of your investing into things like stock mutual funds, ETF's, target date funds, etc. The remaining 10% IMO could go into things like GME/AMC/<insert popular single stock>, and crypto. This way if your single stocks / crypto tanks, it still leaves the vast majority of your investments alone, which will avoid jeopardizing your financial situation from your temptation on risky investing. On the flip side, if the volatile investments multiply, you're still benefiting from this, albeit only 1/10th of what you could've benefited from it since you didn't go all-in, but at least you're still enjoying the gains and not feeling the burn of missing out.

Again I'm not currently doing this. Just a smart way to approach it IMO. Especially if you apply it with the "Never sell at a loss" mentality. Hold onto your investments for months or even years if you have to, never accept a loss, unless you perhaps foresee entire failure in the investment with no chance of recovery... or have an emergency that's beyond your emergency fund and need that cash now.

Per rig in sig, I'm currently BTC mining on the side though.

Any investment is speculative. And the main purpose of an investment is to get more value out than you put in.

I agree that investing should not be the only thing you do in life. You should also do something productive and help make things better.
