Cost my employer a new four wheeler. Was driving like a dikhead on a narrow and poorly maintained trail, saw a big branch from far, I thought it was a branch. Turns out it was a fallen tree that was still rooted. Idk wtf happened, but it somehow knocked me off the ATV. I fell on my back, the impact somehow killed my phone that was in my front pocket and the bike flew off a 30 meter (about 100 feet) cliff.

Yeah my story is very very similar.

Basically, a guy in the office was obsessed with the girl I was hooking up with and he did some fuked up chit and lied about fingering her at a client event. I lost my mind because I liked the chick. Then got entangled in a sexual harassment case against this guy who was eventually fired for lying. I had the head of legal of a publicly-traded company who owned us make me sign an NDA saying that I'm creating a poisonous and toxic work environment and if I ever discuss the case again I'll be fired on the spot. Even though everyone was talking about it I guess I was the focus for being involved with the girl.

As soon as that happened a month later I was put on a performance improvement plan and my boss who I'm buddies with told me he's going to try and keep me on as long as possible but executive management wants me gone and to look for jobs. He basically told me to come into the office but leave whenever I want to interview. 3 months later I was fired for "performance." I was the top performer in the office.

Job required me to work night shift one weekend every month. I'm in a technical job that isn't security.

Dude shows up that I recognize from working day shifts. Security doesn't work weekends for whatever reason, so I am there by myself.

He tells me he needs to check out one of the vehicles for a delivery. Whatever, I let him in the building. He is there a few minutes and leaves.

Apparently he had been fired a week prior. He needed a vehicle for the weekend and came and got one. Apparently he had a fender bender while driving it.

lol, my boss somewhat scolded me while laughing and went to bat for me against the higher ups. I wasn't trained security or knew who was allowed in the building.

Pretty standard stuff. I once had a very underperforming manager (I swear he was in the office 2-3 hours/day tops) get super drunk and tell me that he never had to worry about getting a bad review. Reason being he had stumbled upon a really weird vendor he didn't recognize and found out one of the VP's had stolen ~$200k.

Applied an imperial $/unit vendor quote to a metric quantity in a cost estimate in my first year of work. We were awarded the project and then discovered the error — it ended up being around a $1million mistake. Luckily we managed to get that portion of the contract switched from a lump sum payment to cost reimbursable, but that should have been one of our bigger profit generators on the job.

Broke a sprinkler inside a huge walk in freezer. After finally getting the water to shut off it froze up quick. Took a month of me having to chip away at the ice.

I was driving a forklift in between cash registers and pushed a table into the cash register.

My legs were chaffing super bad in a new job position. I was walking pretty wide to say the least. I had to try and find a solution so ended up stuffing paper towels in my underwear that hung down to my thighs when I thought the coast was clear. The AP saw me on camera doing this and apparently called two other managers to come watch for a good laugh. They came to talk to me about how to improve in my new position and at the end said oh and stop playing with your peepee. Then one of them walked away with their legs flared while they laughed.

Used to work in a call center for people who owned disability scooters, it wasn't a mobile phone thing but like a built in thing on the scooter that let them connect to us.

Had a old lady call up that her scooter had broken down in the middle of nowhere on a Saturday at like 6pm. The last bus to where I lived which was about 30 miles away left at 6.15, If I didn't catch it I'd have been FOOKED.

Could barely hear her and wasn't getting any sense out of her so I said I couldnt hear her, hung up and went home.

Dunno what became of her.

When I was 20 I interned in some travel agency. Supposed to find tourists on an airport and guide them to their hotels via our busses. They were giving me ridicoulous shifts like (4 pm- 3 am and then 7 am-13pm etc). It was 12 and the tourists werent coming till 3 am so I just left. Other day I found out airport was full of lost tourists because guy that was supposed to look for was drunk

Prison officer beat up a prisoner

When I worked event security about 4 years ago was at this function party, it was 10 mins till closing time at bar so our supervisor told us we need to start telling people to leave.

Anyway me and my colleague were patrolling around and these older people in there 30's/40's kept mocking us saying 'look at these kids working security' (was 21 at the time)

Told them they need to pack up and leave but they were taking the piss, eventually it got to 10pm and this guy picked up a bottle off the table which wasn't his so I completely lost my chit and grabbed it off him.

Started raging and was cussing at him constantly and he said 'don't speak to me like that' in which I replied 'I'll speak to you how I want you fuking kunt'.

I then threw my radio across the room and stormed off, the costumer was angry himself too and wanted to fight me and my co workers had to calm both of us down.

Next day my main boss found out what happened so I explained myself to him and he was very understanding and gave me tips on how to deal with those types of situations.

I didn't lose my job just got banned from that particular venue.

That's quite a story.

My fukup- on a forklift brought down 2 pallets of energy drinks, didn't line up the forks right, both pallets came crashing down. Second week and first time on a forklift in a warehouse. Didn't even get yelled at, probably cos my supervisor would have been fired for telling me to get on without training....

I think it was the same throughout beyond life. I never had a thrill to find more

Honestly? My work place had a leak in the roof one time. When it rained, it literally rained inside the building. The ceiling would just drop from several places.


Took a video on my phone and posted it on ********. Got pulled into the office a few days later 'cause somehow that video got around, and they absolutely raged out on me.

Only had this grad job since last Sep so nm, but called a client by the wrong name and he got pissed off.

Worst is probably spilling water on a kid when I worked as a waitress at uni. The kid didn't mind but the mum shouted at me lol.

I accidentally did something like this, but on a much smaller scale.

I was at a forward operating base in Afghanistan. My job required me to drop some documents in to the operations room for the base, where all the top dogs were working so they could collate their day to day battle picture. I was still a relatively new soldier at the time, but they decided I was smart enough to take on some extra responsibilities in addition to my role out there. The base had an alarm system which was networked in to my radar system that I was operating. The radar would pick up any enemy missiles/mortars/guns and set off the camp’s alarm system automatically if it detected a round was calculated to hit base, giving you approx 7-15 seconds to find some hard cover.

The alarm system wasn’t something I was actually trained to use, but it was simple enough as it used point to point and required someone to go around each individual tannoy (approx 24 around camp) and clean the solar panels on them as they got incredibly dusty.

The alarm system was centrally accessed via a single laptop in the Ops room. On it you could check to see if all the tannoys were online and if any were down and needed maintenance. You could also trigger the alarm system manually.

As I’d been maintaining it for a couple of weeks, they wanted me to give a Colonel, who was at the camp on a visit, a demonstration of how it worked. I’d not yet used the laptop, but it had a simple interface and I knew I could blag it. What I didn’t know was that the SOP’s for the system was to have the cursor on the alarm button so that it could be hit immediately if a round was picked up but the alarm wasn’t triggered automatically. The laptop also had a very very sensitive touchpad.

I went to move the cursor on to a drop menu but it registered me touching the touch pad as a click and subsequently set of the alarm. Just for context, I was there 7 months and the alarm only sounded on 2 other occasions, so it was pretty rare for it to go off.

Me doing this caused approx 2000 troops to all simultaneously hit the deck and get on to their belt buckles. I immediately had to cancel the alarm and speak on the tannoy stating it was a false alarm. The commanding officer for the Ops room stormed in after, demanding answers, as he was taking a chit at the time in a portaloo outside.

As punishment I was put on a 48 hour rotating guard duty, manning each sentry position for 4 hours a time with 2 hours off in between, was pretty grim.

Took out the eBanking for eastern europe for a bank i worked my first job (big italian bank)

I /we could fix it within 2 hours but from now on i was the village idiot

I ended up leaving a cloud computing process on Google running by accident when I thought I had terminated it which costed a high three figure sum.

Redesigning a nuclear power station. I used data from the wrong power station model, submitted the relevant reports and plans which allowed preliminary work to begin (costing tens of millions). A chance self-review of report information highlighted the issue. I had to personally contact the international mogul customer, Government officials and stakeholders, holting the work putting the entire project on hold for years.

Kept my job.
