It's a plague that has somehow become a positive thing
Just lol @ abdicating personal responsibility
I do feel bad for people who legitimately don't know better about nutrition and how to lose weight due to all the chit-tier info out there, and trash diets and magazines.
Government needs to start putting up public announcement billboards saying "Calories in, calories out, go exercise, eat less dogchit"

agreed... the amount of young and fat people I see on a daily basis is astounding. I will never understand how someone can be so fat and lazy at such a young age... these are the people who tend to reproduce and then all five of their kids are fat and then the cycle repeats... and before you know it, boom, 100 fatties.
What's also sad is a lot of children are dealt a chit hand with chit parents. I've seen it in my family... obese parents raise obese children. You'd think they'd learn from their mistakes and want a better life for their children... nope. By the time the kid is 14 and can start making conscious diet choices... their tour is already almost over. It's fukin child abuse.

I think they need to teach ACTUAL nutrition in school. Not the food pyramid bull****. It starts there. I also think some of the onus is on the parents. Seeing fat kids make me sad. I get it. I was one. I was one until undergrad. But I had to LEARN myself about nutrition and good eating habits and working out. Its easy to just give your kids junk food to satisfy them. Quick meals are generally higher in calories too, so when your parents are feeing you a bunch of pizza rolls and **** for dinner, you won't learn any better.
Then you carry those eating habits over into adulthood. Its why a lot of young adults now just uber eats or make mac and cheese/chicken nuggets and **** like that for dinner instead of actually cooking. Before all of this convenience, recipes were passed down in families. Family dinners were a thing and you learned how to make even basic meals because your parents actually cooked. I see a slow trend away from that and I 100% believe it is contributing to obesity.
You can even take a look at EBT/Food Stamps. Foods that qualify for that are higher calorie foods. ANYTIME I get behind someone using them, there cart is full of chips and non nutritious foods. Drinking calories is also a HUGE HUGE HUGE issue. If the vast majority of people would just drink low calorie/zero calorie beverages, I don't think there would be as many fat people either. But again, that comes back to education through school and parental figures.
I don't know how I will be when I have kids. I would like them to be able to enjoy the snacks that I did, but in moderation. I didn't have moderation. I want my kids to understand that cookies are okay, that ice cream is okay, but portioned and I would like them to understand why.

How others look or lead their lives has little to no effect on me. But I do tend to judge obese people at the store based on what is in their cart. If I see an overweight person at the gym attempting to improve their lives I actually feel happy for them but if I see them at a restaurant eating burgers or fried food I just SMH

I don't understand how people cant balance. Like, drink coke zero 90% of the time and treat yourself with a regular coke once in a while. You don't have to GIVE **** up.
I make chocolate and marshmallow sandwhiches as a snack, using Walden Farms. Even if its not exactly zero calorie, it tastes good enough and is filling and so low cal it really doesnt make a difference and it saves me so many calories than using actual marshmallow fluff and nutella

I can't even stand bulking because I hate losing my abs.
This last bulk of mine has lasted two months before I have decided to nope the fuk out of it and go back down to below 180lbs.
I dunno how fat people let themselves get to that point.

Lol @ people who claim (with no legit data) that artificial sweeteners are dangerous...while that same person consumes 200g of sugar a day.

The govt food pyramid/food groups is a bunch of bs that hasn't been updated for decades, at least when I went to school where I lived at the time. It was basically just food groups such as meat, veggies/fruits, grains and dairy and an arbitrary amount of servings for each. I think even fruit jooces counted as a serving of fruit despite these being concentrated with sugar. So a kid could drink their recommended fruit servings but really they just pumped a whole bunch of sugar into their body.
Zero mention of calories, "fat makes you fat", glossing over micro and macronutrients. While the heavily processed chit probably contributes to it to a degree, calories are the main driver for it rather than the foods themselves. Fast foods though seem to be more calorie dense so people are consuming more calories of it while still not being satiated.
It might seem silly as fuk and retarded but maybe teaching kids to read a damn nutrition label lol? And actually physically showing them, "this is 100 grams of chips right here", "this has xxx amount of calories" and compare it to "this is 100 grams of vegetables, seems like a chit ton right?", "it only has this much calories though". However if you add 30 mL of this ranch dressing right here, you see how it can all add up. It's crazy that if you would demonstrate this to an adult who wonders why they can't lose weight they will have their mind blown.
I agree that the dichotomy of "good" vs "bad" foods needs to go. Teach kids to have a healthy relationship with food and that they don't need to avoid certain foods altogether. Have your chocolate chip cookie but also have your baby carrots with a meat/lettuce sandwich or some chit. Maximize the "good" chit, moderate the "bad" chit but don't eliminate it. Going to extremes is not really sustainable and if anything will cause people to double down on what they were doing previously because they are now conditioned to think that you have to go to extremes to be healthy.
Also some of the "heart healthy" chit they put on fruit juices and cereals is absolute bullchit, if anything it misleads people to consume more of that thinking they'll be healthier for it.

aspartame breaks down into phenylalanine, methanol and aspartic acid. The first being an essential amino acid, the second also being found when consuming fruits and the third also found in higher quantities in dietary protein. Multiple studies have shown it not to be toxic or have long-term effects even when consumed in unrealistic amounts.
Zero calorie substitutes honestly are a god send lmao, but I also do the same thing with other foods. For example when making a lasagna, I honestly don't like using low fat cheeses. But what I do is I'll put half of the good chit plus half of the low fat cheese and it pretty much tastes the same. Just little adjustments you can make everywhere that don't sacrifice taste at all makes a world of difference.

Yeah but the opposite is anorexia which is what me and now my daughter is experiencing. It's life threatening and the thin women in the media were what inspired me. I would read what they eat and follow, and ended up in the hospital for 3 months and all of a sudden had this mental illness that was killing me. I couldn't drive, work or function in society.
I know many from my groups who are on disability for months or years. That's not exactly contributing to society.

It takes significant effort to be overweight for anyone, I dont care what your medical condition is
We are all in a caloric deficit naturally and need to consume calories to go above that, which takes effort
Being lean is the easiest thing in the world

Obesity started in the 80s with fast food becoming more convenient (drive thru for example) and things such as cable, video games, VCRs, etc. etc. became popular. By the 90s it got worse with the internet.
Obesity was a huge problem in 1996.

literaly the GREATEST thing you can do your life:
is not money, new job, buy a new car, hot gf, etc.
it's to GET FIT. You can literally add DECADES of goiod living to your life. And one thing we can't buy is time. But not dying early or being in a hospital gives you tons more time.
so people who are overweight, fat, obese - it says a lot about what they think of themselves.

I made a detailed post about many important factors for weight loss and fat gain and exercise and well what do you know the forum screwed that reply once I tried to post it. This has happened to me no less than 50 times over the past two years; often with posts I have worked very hard on and put a lot of effort into to. I've never had that problem at any other forum but this one.
I'm not even gonna waste my time on any other detailed posts at this forum. It's just not worth my time doing so and wondering if my post will be screwed or not. It's not worth the time or energy or stress of that.
I think this forum has a lot of great members and I only hope that one day they get the proper administration they deserve.

Sure you are sacrificing a little taste, but a lot of these substitutes taste really good, at least a lot better than they used to. Are they they exact same? No, but close enough to where it doesnt matter IMO.

I know many from my groups who are on disability for months or years. That's not exactly contributing to society.

I was extremely thin at 18 and looking back it's crazy because it never felt like it was an issue. Diet was awful, but never heard **** about it because most people don't see being thin as a problem (obviously would get DYEL'd here though).

I don’t mind a little bit of meat on a female but I agree with Op mostly. I look at a lot of people and think “howwwwww”? Lettuce be real tea also, only a tiny % of them have ‘conditions’.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.
Makes me feel eternal, all this Pain is an Illusion.

Everyday we get closer to Wall-E it seems. My sister is fat and asks me for weightloss or training advice all the time. She doesn't do any of the sheet I tell her though. When someone invents a crazy fat burner they're going to be stupid rich like Bezos.
