Nah don't quit deadlifts. Most alpha exercise. Only poosies injure themselves because they ego lift and can't listen to their bodies

How to not get injured:
1. Have perfect form
2. Train at RPE 8/10
3. Don't force a weight if you aren't feeling it that day
4. ???
5. Profit

Start with the bar closer to shims and keep your shins more vertical. More vertical shins with a neutral spine means your ass needs to be way farther back (and higher) at the start. Then when your ass is farther back and higher I will rape u if I get the chance. Jk about the last part but the rest is true. If you can't keep a neutral spine with your shins the way I described then work on getting your hamstrings stronger via GHR's if you have access to one otherwise RDL and SLDL are good options. Also good mornings.

Just as important as your form don't wear those ****gytime shoes for deads get some thin flat shoes or go shoeless for them cause them big soft wedges under your feet will only fuk you up srs.

Start with your hips a little higher, pull the slack out of the bar and think of driving the floor away with your feet.

Too much f'ing around between reps too. If you look up the 5 step deadlift set up on YouTube it should help.

Thanks the advice man, already been looking at videos on form and practicing in my apartment with no bar. Think i know what to do next time. I’ll invest in some flat shoes or go barefoot if i don’t have any.

Its not that bad. You need to focus a bit more on your hip drive. But its honestly better form than most people i see deadlifting at the gym

- Change your shoes to flats or lift in socks or barefooted.
- Bar should be around mid foot for set up
- Your back is fine, push through your heels more and drive your hips through at the end
- Your hips arent too low, everyones bodies are different and that looks fine (strongmen and some powerlifters have low hip starting points)
- What the fuk are you doing on the eccentric phase tho?

Functional strength is a buzz phrase and not at all a real thing

When will you ever be picking something up off the ground on a perfectly balanced, grippy barbell?

This. Having done manual labor most of my life (since age 14),I can say gym strength doesn’t at all carry over to anything else. The SAID principle at work.

That said, if you enjoy deadlifting, then do it. But understand it has little utility in building muscle when compared to things like RDLs.
