Taking guns away is not an option, so the only option is to arm up the good guys. You can't eliminate all violence, it's in our human nature, but if everyone is strapped then criminals will think twice about starting a gunfight. And when someone does start shooting, they can be taken out quickly and the damage to good people can be minimized

the ability to allow law abiding citizens to shoot criminals on sight would save alot of trouble
shooting a criminal dead for a law abiding citizen = no court, interview, or anything like that, just getting the job done
crime would plummet

People get shot in America because, to so many, drug dealing and gang banging are more appealing than jobs and families. Something like Donald's Economic Opportunity Zones, the Wall, or throwing Cardi B down a well are the right kind of solutions, and they make a real difference. Degeneracy is the real enemy, not a piece of steel.

No, I don't think so. We have so many guns in circulation, I don't think we can really get it down much

Americans just don't want to hear about their gun problem, and the main problem is it's such a part of the culture.
We have 34 guns per 100 inhabitants in Canada, yet our homicide rate with guns is less than 1 per 100,000 population. It's because we use guns for things they are meant for, like hunting and recreation, not everyday defense and posturing on social media. Also, we don't glorify their use like Americans do.

Not without talking about race, and most people lack the balls to discuss it.
Fact - if you take black men from ages 15 to 35 out of the equation, the gun violence numbers for the US are similar to the European countries people sre trying to emulate.
Of course, at the root of it race (meaning skin color, DNA) isnt the delineating factor. Culture is. The group I mentioned above, who are 3.5% of the population yet account for something like 55% of the violent crime, overwhelmingly choose to practice " nig-ga dis nig-ga dat" culture, which is backwards, violent, and self-destructive.
What politician or national pundit haa the nutsack to stand up on national TV and say that?
None of them. So no, it isnt going to be resolved.

Cash for vasectomies.
Only give welfare if recipient on injectable birth control or has vasectomy.
Would solve the issue in 1 generation.
Unfortunately our politicians are self-serving, spineless fuks and this would never happen.

As the vast majority of gun violence occurs in cities that are typically run by liberals, I think we all know the answer.
Liberal policies lead to crime and violence always. You have low income housing, and programs that reward people for not making a lot of money. Then you don't tax those people, so they keep voting for you, but they can never save any money because the rules prevent you from moving up in the world. You might pay $500/month in rent and make $12/hour at your job ($1920-$500 = $1420/month left over). Well if you get a raise to $13/hour, your rent will go up to $700/month ($2080-$700 = 1380 left over). Same problem with insurance, food stamps, etc. The more you make, the less you get. So you can never break out of the cycle.
The only option is under the table work, which doesn't pay well (day labor or washing dishes for maybe $20-40/day) Or you get into crime. Prostitution, drugs, or theft, all of which lead to violent crime.
Also education is worse in these cities, as the prevalence for violent crime keeps good teachers away, puts stress on the learning environment, and funding that should go to schools ends up going to crime-prevention. Instead of getting an education, kids get stress, no help at home, and probably live in a house with criminal (or absent altogether). So a lot of these kids end up in street gangs, because it's the only family they can find.
Everyone wants to solve the gun "problem" by removing the guns, instead of addressing the root causes of violent crime. We should ban the Democratic party.

JuSt BaN gUnS, tHeN aLl ThE iLlEgAl GuNs WiLl Go AwAy
There's over 400mil guns in the U.S., even if they ban guns how many legal gun owners will hand them in? How many criminals will hand them in?
Even if they do somehow manage to wave a fairy wand that makes all guns disappear, it wouldn't take long to get a log back in the country.
The same people who want to ban guns want open boarders and think it's immoral to not just let anyone in.
******* and opium are illegal and absolutely none of that is coming over that open boarder now right?
Do you people not realize how many guns are all over central and south america from the cold war?
When the cartels start bringing in all of those guns by the container who do you think they'll go to? The mom and pop shop protecting their store? Or the gangs and dealers and kidnappers etc.
The vast majority of gun crime is already committed by... you guessed it... CRIMINALS. Gang violence and drug violence and people robbing civilians etc.
It's like here in Canada in Toronto, there's a big gun violence problem and it is literally 100% gangs shooting each other with illegal guns that come over the boarder. And their solution to stop it is to ban legal guns... which make up 0% of shootings.
It absolutely astonishes me that people don't realize it's the massive gang culture causing the issue. All these other western countries with lower gun crime don't have anywhere near the same gang problem. That doesn't just go away when you ban guns.
And 80% of gun homicides are done by a certain demographic that get gold caskets if a cop shoots them.
They have 70-80% single mother households, a violent culture, poverty, get screwed over by the system (get years in jail for weed while rich f*cks get rehab), have no reasonable legal job possibilities, their democratic politicians rather brag about how many of them are on welfare instead of doing something to improve the economy and give them good decent jobs.
So until all that changes, nothing will change.

Guns are not the problem. If the government found a way to get every gone out of the country I'm sure gun deaths will drop but I don't see murder going down very much.
Bad people are going to do bad stuff. The country is moving away from personal responsibility so that's part of the issue.

Its easy to put a gun to somebody's head and pull the trigger...its a different feeling to put your hands around somebody's neck; feel them struggle, claw, wiggle, and the look of despair in their eyes as they realize death is coming.
Even a knife requires you to have knowledge of arteries or else you will have to shank them multiple times for them to die

The UK's culture is different than the culture here.
What works for you doesn't work for us.
Liberal cities here prove that strict gun laws do not reduce crime. In fact, the opposite is true.
Just look at any chithole country in Central or South America. They almost all have insanely strict gun laws yet have the highest murder rates in the world.

Also: mental health. Suicides make up a big percentage of gun deaths.
