2 of my coworkers have hyphenated last names. One is a feminist whale and the other is an asian girl married to a white dork.

Can confirm. Sister lives in Quebec. Apparently it was done to try to keep Quebecois women from losing their French last name when they marry non-Quebecois. The irony in her case is that our surname is Swedish and her husband is from France, so she would have actually gained a French surname. Kids have his surname.

I gotta chime in. I know a guy who married a woman that already had a kid that both had the ex husbands name. The guy changed his last name to the ex-husbands last name so that they would all have the last name and be a family

I do not understand why feminists feel that taking their husband’s name is somehow subordinating but retaining her own family’s (paternal, undoubtedly) surname is not.

is there anything more cucked than your future wife not taking your last name?

whenever a kid has a hyphenated last name I automatically think they are either born out of wed-lock, their parents divorced/separated.

No. In most spanish countries everyone has two last names only. The women usually don't take their husbands' names. They keep their own two last names.

Generally speaking, the kid is born and registered as (given name) + (the last name of the father's father) + (the last name of the mother's father).
