Best thing you can do is quickly come to grips with the fact you're going to be bit and there is going to be blood. Good news is, you wont lose your arm. Give up your arm. If you have a jacket on, wrap it around your arm if you can. Don't try to pull away with your arm, push your arm farther into its jaws/mouth if you can. Get on top of it with all of your weight into your arm. With your free arm smash its nose, eyes, etc as hard as you physically can. If you aren't a giant pussy, you can smash their head into concrete repeatedly, do it with actual force. Pick that ****er up and drop it and all your weight onto its skull. Don't punch it in the skull, you're only going to hurt your hand. If it has balls/dick, you can kick/step/stomp on that ****er as well.

Avoiding being bit? Best thing is to have something to put between you and the animal. Anything. If you have keys in your pocket, start jabbing the thing in the eyes with them. If you have a knife, give up your arm and start fileting that bitch. Do not stop until it lets go. One "cut" aint gonna do it. Biggest thing is actually fighting back/mindset, people get scared and just start flopping around. Come to terms quickly with the fact you're probably going to be bit, its not going to feel good, and there will be blood. Once you can accept that, its going to be a lot easier to think and actively fight back.

not sure if this would work but if a dog latches onto your arm and clamps on, if you're near a door maybe try to maneuver yourself so you're on one side of the door and the dog is on the other side, then slam the door into its face and snout. Of course this could be really hard to do if the dog is pulling hard, which they will likely do if you try to force them into a direction but if you can slam the door on its face multiple times it possible could let go. the other option is try to use something to stab its eyes but you're going to be in a state of panic so it would be really hard.

If you're doing like yardwork or something grab a shovel or pitchfork, pitchfork is obvious but with a shovel wind up and do a good strong thrust, not a blunt swing, or do like a chop with the edge, I doubt pit would wanna continue being a ******* after that.

If you can't do that, and you have no weapons, then you're pretty much fukked. Dogs are very fast. I was amazed at my dog's reflexes, like when I'd throw a ball. She was so damn fast. They have way faster reflexes than human beings.

All you can do is get bit and try to fight back while not incurring any serious injuries.

Btw the best way to get a dog to stop attacking is to have a bystander pick it up by its hind legs. Then the dog will think that it's under attack and will instinctively let go of the person.

Lots of MISCers don't understand how a pit works. Both of those dogs would attack a couple of times then back away. Their bite 100% would be worse than a pit, but neither can come close to how badly a pit would mangle you.

I've seen videos of pits being shot multiple times, and they still continue to attack. One with its spine obviously severed was crawling on its front legs to bite the victim. Their jaws don't lock, they bite, shake out a chunk of flesh, then go for a second, third, etc. Seen videos of them eating faces, etc.

I've seen a video of pits eating its littermates as puppies, so its not the way you raise them either.

There is good reason why people don't use mastiffs, rottweilers, wolfhounds of great danes in bull/dog fights. Pitbulls are bred for gameness (look into it on wikipedia), pain and injury just stimulates them. Their entire flight response has been completely bred out of them. The old saying "Its not the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog" was initially just a simple reference to the pitbull.

Any other dog can be beaten away, pitbulls can't. Even your firearm is not enough to stop them, you need to draw the weapon, take the safety off, and cock the weapon, good luck doing that with a pit tearing flesh off your arm. Hitting anywhere but the heart and head will just excite it further. If it has a leash, the only way is to hang it till dead. The second best way is to gouge out its eyes, let it take a chunk of your flesh out, then run away. Can't fuk around with a pitbull, you need to kill it straight up.

Also, what's up with all the pit owners linking the dog to patriotism? Everyone on the internet links it to loving America. Also, here in Australia, the #1 dog for patriots is the fukking ugly as chit staffy, essentially just a smaller pitbull. Not the blue heeler, or kelpie which are 100% born and bred aussie, but some ugly chit pit. Every single fight I've ever seen has always involved a staffy, including 2 fatalities.There's very good reason why dog fighting rings use pitbulls and not wolfhounds. Wolfhounds still have a flight response to pain, but pitbulls completely lack that. Pain excites it and drives it further. You can break all 4 of its legs, and it'll still try to bite you.
