How do you get to choose which vaccine you're gonna get? When you make the appointment are you going to know in advance which one is going to be there. Maybe your vaccination center has J&J today, but by the time of your appointment they only have the Phizer or AstraZ. If they only have AstraZ are you not going to get vaccinated and wait until they have the one you want or are you just gonna take whatever they have?

J&J, like the AZN vaccine uses a tweaked adenovirus vector to enter the body and then code for the spike protein via mrna. J&J & AZN are incredibly similar, J&J just decided to take the route where they only need one jab, rather than two & thus its slightly reduced effectiveness and likely longevity of protection reflects that.

The plus side is, it works better on variants (apparently) & the big selling point was that it only needs one shot so is more convenient for those apprehensive towards a jab in the first place.

My county lists the sites and which vaccines they have - some listjustJ&J.
I imagine its impossible to pick, maybe its more inconvenient, or have to wait a little longer until the young waves are mostly done.

Looked into this for months srs. There's not a whole lot of research to go by with the current vaccines out but yes the Johnson & Johnson / Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies vaccine is the one I felt was most reliable based on what we know. Since the 70s we've been using and researching adenoviruses

I received my shot 4 days ago and the only symptoms I had were on the first night. After that, it was smooth sailing

I don't really trust lipid nano-particles to do the job so I didn't want to get Pfizer or Moderna, had a persistent feeling in my mind that it just doesn't sound like a good idea at all to trust fuking butter to transfer RNA to my cells. It works obviously, but it is new technology less than 15 years I think. Too many things that can go wrong with the temperature I figured so I went with J&J/J vaccine. After you get the shot it instantly feels pretty damn tender and but just breathe and move your arm some and that subsided for me within the span of a few minutes

Vaccins don't have long term effects. This is simply not possible because of the way they work. mRNA vaccines especially.

JnJ, AZ (and novavax will be approved soon) are not mRNA vaccines.

If I was forced to take a vaccine, I was considering J&J or the astra shot. But J&J has recently been in the news for knowingly selling baby powder with asbestos in it for decades, resulting in cancer, death and massive lawsuits and astra are having blood clot issues. I don't trust these people with my health lmao. IMO, none of them are safe at this point. We need long term studies. But if you can't wait, you're welcome to be a guinea pig.

gf and I were able to get J n J last week Thursday after work.

completely knocked us on our asses. No side effects for about 6 hours then in the course of 30 min went from normal night to what might be the most intense flu symptoms I've ever felt in my life. The chills were unreal, I was laying on the couch with my whole body shivering so hard it was interfering with my breath. Entire body ached and had a splitting headache. The next day I felt like I had a massive hangover.

I'm skeptical of the new mRNA sht, but the J&J appeals to me because we're not the first test subjects of the technology. Maybe its fine...just making the best decision for me and my family. I'm skeptical of the new mRNA sht, but the J&J appeals to me because we're not the first test subjects of the technology. Maybe its fine...just making the best decision for me and my family. J&J even tho the efficacy is less seems safer. Still has 100% effectiveness at preventing death, so thats all I care about.
I didn't have a choice as to which one I got but I was hoping for JJ for the same reasons you outlined there.

I would definitely schedule the next day off if possible, seriously felt like I had gotten blackout drunk the night before
