A stupid idea. School should be an investment, if it’s worth it is totally up to the individual person. Plus wiping out 50k in student loans still doesn’t fix the core problem for future students. I’d be OK if they put a interest limit on student loans (i.e it’s capped at 10% of the maximum loan amount)

Not a popular opinion these days but...
Its easier to stop giving a fk about how the Democratic party is currently dismantling the country and everything that made it great.

On that note, I actually haven't made a loan payment in over a year because of COVID. Seems like they delayed it for everyone.

I'm still paying my own student debts. I wonder if our queen at the helm will also get the taxpayer to pay for my personal decisions.

Once tuition is paid off, the college cuts you a check for all the extra money that was put toward your tuition and you just pocket it. This doesn’t even count things like the Pell Grant etc. I made so much money in college.

Explain this pls. I'm still active duty and working on my second master's degree so far with GI Bill. The VA just paid my schools directly, how do you end up with overpayment?

Americans "We live in the greatest country in the world but over my dead body can young people get educated without 30 years of loans"
can one of you morons explain to me how having a society where increased access to higher education and thus increasing your utility for society is a negative?
Like 50k can be a single year at out of state colleges in your retardedly inflated education system

Biden has stated multiple times he only wants $10k forgiven. The screeching liberals want 50k, but he already addressed this earlier.
A one time $10k relief is not a big deal. Not one of you idiots was even concerned with mega corps getting trillions of bailout money during the past year, but as soon as a fellow person gets some help you have to bash them.
It was the same thing with the people who qualified for the stimulus. Or those who actually needed the unemployment extension. A bunch of crying from this forum about how people should have 10 years of savings, but giant businesses are exempt from this rule. You guys are idiots.

It's the equivalent of a band-aid on a compound fracture.
Doesn't solve the problem of the federal govt handing out loans like candy and the admin costs of colleges that serve no real purpose other than to maximize profits and spend more money on campuses for reasons that attract recruits, not retain, educate them, or place them in a job that will allow them to pay back the loan.
But yeah, by all means we should "fund" education.
