gotta always be on the warpath against cancer imo

that KRAS and BRAF (mostly KRAS) that vitamin C help against, are significant players in colo-cancer... see below

So keep the C and drop the zinc?

Does anyone cook for you brah? Also rice is a super low tier carb source imo. Focus on higher fibre sources meng. There'll be an adjustment period but your body will eventually adapt and thank you. High fibre diet (40g+ /day) is the absolute GOAT.

Also, stop taking any pills unrelated to medical conditions.

rice is the biggest source of arsenic in terms of foods

I have it daily and I actually stupidly didnt used to rinse it off before cooking until recently

I need a different carb source for now
but also wondering what else could contribute..
We have people working at contaminated site cleanups with high arsenic levels, they have to get blood tested monthly for insurance.

Tough to get a real toxic dose through food unless you are eating in a contaminated area. The testers always ask how much Romaine lettuce you eat, it can increase blood levels.

definitely stopping rice for now and maybe whey. no tap water

kind of scared.

my copper / ceruplasmin was a bit low too which I believe was from taking zinc long term. gives the same symptoms but ive been takin copper supps and it seems to help.

not sure if my problems were from the arsenic or both.. but dang
really hope I can naturally lower this and resolve symptoms and that no permanent damage has been done
Check your sardine/small fish intake. Joe Rogan had this issue I think

Sweet potato is good. High fibre rye bread, ezekiel bread, oatmeal, you can even scramble eggs with oats for even more protein and it comes out good imo. Lay off the rice for sure. Check your supermarket for flatbreads (wholemeal preferably). There's so many good carb sources brah. Legit the easiest foods to find. Good luck srs.

If you eat protein powder MUCH of it is contaminated with arsenic. Same with rice. Cut both of those out asap!

its the only thing I can think of. It is known to have highest arsenic content.
plus... I never rinsed it off before cooking in the past.. which could be the problem itself..

You mention cutting out tap water, but I would be surprised if that is the cause. Cities test for it and the limit is 10 ng/L. You can probably look up test results for your City online, or they put out a annual report that should have it. If you are rural on a private well, then it is a possible cause. If that's the case, test your water.

What if... you just started rinsing if off now? Ate rice every single day my entire life and no symptoms of any kind that you listed. Always found it gross when people didn't rinse their rice before cooking.

Also good idea to have your water supply tested. Do you live near any industrial sites that could potentially be releasing arsenic into your water/air? It's a pretty common effluent for steel and paper industries. That's the first thing I would check for since it would contaminate literally everything else that goes in your body. It's also naturally occurring, but rare for it be so concentrated as to poison drinking water.

Once you confirm you aren't within potential contamination zones, then I would move on to checking your supplements.

my symptoms started improving the past few weeks since I started taking copper and I also started rinsing a bit after. but want to stop rice completely for now just to be safe.

I did work security at a chemical plant right before this too but my spot was way outside the plant. related or not.

Cut the rice and the protein powder. Eat more meat and sweet potato or squash. Rice is a poverty carb (low in nutrients).

Stop taking the zinc supplements and eat more copper rich foods such as liver and some nuts.

thats the exact plan for now.

not sure if the severe symptoms (or symptoms in general) are from the arsenic or the copper but looking at both right now.

Tryin to figure out my diet now...

no more rice
no more whey (probably not it but dont trust)
and I heard even CHICKEN has arsenic in it..

all of which I ate daily for years..

and apparently arsenic blocks vit b1 so I most likely have a deficiency in that because of it and causing me symptoms.

scary

Best of luck bro, I'm sure you'll make some adjustments and will be fine again in a couple of days.

An easy substitute for the rice is pasta, mix 50% whole grain and 50% refined grains to have benefit of the fiber but still be easy to eat. Sweet potato is a great source too, but it is more expensive and requires more work to prepare.

Why are SUMO wrestlers OK? They eat kilo's of white rice every single day

Edit:
In Europe: Food, particularly grain-based processed products such as wheat bread, rice, milk and dairy products, and drinking water are the main sources of exposure for the general population in Europe. Other food groups that are important contributors to the daily dietary exposure to inorganic arsenic in the general European population were food for special dietary uses, bottled water, coffee and beer, rice grains and rice based products, fish and vegetables (especially algae).

Children under three years of age are the most exposed to inorganic arsenic. High consumers of rice in Europe, such as certain ethnic groups and high consumers of algae-based products can exceed their tolerable weekly intake for inorganic arsenic. The available evidence does not indicate a different dietary exposure for vegetarians from that of the general population, unless they consume a large amount of algae-based products.

It's only the rice that's a real contributor. It's like there's arsenic in everything, but it won't matter until you consume what a 100 people consume every day, in one sitting. Only rice contains an amount that does impact over time. And that's because of this:

(note: iA = inorganic Arsenic)
Flooded rice fields and the anaerobic nature of paddy soils facilitate the buildup of arsenic in the rice crop compared to other agricultural crops [2]. Rice can accrue up to 10–20 times more arsenic than wheat or barley because silica and phosphate transporters in the rice crop effectively move iAs up into the rice grain [7]. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States (FAO), China is the highest rice producing and consuming country in the world and accounts for a third of the global supply of rice [8,9]. Rice grown in Asia has also been found to have higher iAs content than rice grown in the U.S. [10]. An estimated 57–96% of the total arsenic measured in Chinese-produced rice has been found to be of the inorganic form, which stresses the importance of conducting iAs risk assessments in China [11]. Nonetheless, estimating iAs exposure from rice is difficult in China due to the vast size of the country, its variable geology, and the country’s diverse dietary patterns among sub-populations [11].

Extensive literature searches have revealed the widespread similarity in molecular biological properties of zinc, ω-3 PUFAs and vitamin D, and their similar anti-cancer properties, even though they have different modes of action. These three nutrients are separately essential for good health, especially in the aged. Zinc, ω-3 PUFAs and vitamin D are inexpensive and safe as they are fundamentally natural and have the properties of correcting and inhibiting undesirable actions without disturbing the normal functions of cells or their extracellular environment.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...00908420303072

"Zinc has a crucial role in the biology of p53, in that p53 binds to DNA through a structurally complex domain stabilized by zinc atom."https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/...cc.10.10.15642

P53 is the most common mutation in cancer, according to that chart posted (present in half of cancers) so keeping p53 functioning looks to be crucial for long term survival. Don't drop the zinc

Glad you found out what the issue is and should be able to correct it. I’m sure the specialist can guide you in the right direction. Would be interested to hear their suggestions for correcting current state and preventing future issues.

Also, while I do think you should avoid poverty protein powders and should wash your rice...I’d be interested to know if the chemical plant affected you in any way.
