Lol, same. Except my boss is a female, so she always drags the drama in her life into the workplace. I try not to bring up anything that I do off hours, so it makes it seem like I have no life. I most give one word answers.

I don’t mind the friendly talkative types, as long as they’re not spouting crap most of the time. I didn’t realise though that people need to socialise so much, especially in person, until after lockdowns happened. Suddenly, I was hearing about all these mental breakdowns. My experience was mainly with other women and I guess there are a lot of extroverts out there, but all the whining (specifically about not being able to go out and socialise), freak outs and crying was baffling to me. Wanted to tell them to get a bloody grip.

[QUOTE=MegaSloot;1637568603]Yet, I did the same damn thing in years past. I thought of myself as somehow superior because I cockblock like a damn linebacker. I blast past any number of people without saying a word, even when they're trying to talk (my daddy figure was literally a pro defensive end in the NFL). I still do this and can't seem to stop. Missed some nice opportunities. This not talking to people habit isn't actually a good thing because humans are glorious. Talking to them does bring joy. That's why any of us are here on this forum.
If you are a complete dummy like I was, and you tell yourself that you are special because you hurt yourself by not talking to people, you are coping with the actual hurt of living life alone. Be honest about it. What you are doing is retreating behind ego to ease the pain of denying the genetic need to be social. Why does one deny the body's needs? This behavior defect is a consequence of being ready for a physical altercation for long stretches of time.

Why though? At work if i go more than 2 minutes without talking people ask me if i'm OK or start up a random convo.
