Yes, and in the US women usually make a plate for their men. My wife makes a plate for me no matter if we're at my parents home, her parents home, or they come to ours. And our mothers do the same for our fathers.

I think the only time my husband ever puts a plate together is if we are at his parents house. Usually because he knows where all the dishes and utensils are. Other than that, I make his plate. Because we have kids, they get served first, then him, finally myself. If he wants more I refill his plate. At the end of the meal he’ll offer to take my plate to the sink. But this is how I grew up. So this is normal to me.

Does she cook? Or does she expect you to cook as well?

Edit to add: Fixing someone’s plate should be appreciated but never expected.

If I did that to my gf she would look at me with this confused ass look. Exception is if i'm cooking dinner and putting food on my own plate of course I will give her a plate too, and vice versa. Whoever reaches for a shared dish first should offer it to other people first. Offer the plate or plate it for them shouldn’t matter. It’s just manners to offer a shared item to others before taking for yourself.

If she actually expects you to serve her...

Ive witnessed this in other cultures but not in the US. In the US with Caucasian couples in professional dinner type environments, the male usually scopes the sides/plate for the female.

I definitely see the pouring drinks thing when I'm at a table with mixed company, but I've just always considered that an etiquette thing, never put much thought behind it. Serving your partner at a party or at a catered dinner? I read etiquette and southern domestic pursuits books for fun and that's not really a thing, and seems like a weird issue to get heated over.
