Basically I don’t think she liked a lot of the other legitimate stuff JP was saying about personal responsibility along with a bunch of other views, so she found the one “bad” view of his and used it to dismiss everything else he said because she didn’t wanna hear it.

I came across a video where he said to be the strongest man at your father's funeral, etc. It was what I really needed when my brother passed. It was shattering my family and everything in life was just falling apart.
I could have came across someone else that would have said something similar self-help wise or seen a shrink. I'm just glad it was sooner rather than later.
