For my case it was really more a principle issue. I was making that extra 8k/year at my previous job before I was let go -- and I definitely wasn't exactly spoiled there. It seems like this other place is trying to get away with as low a salary as possible.

I say this, because usually when people posture to the level you do, its because they have the intellect to back it up and use it. But your just rambling off about nonsense lol

Bro, honestly, no disrespect, but your come off as a wildly tone-deaf and illiterate individual (even by MISC standards and there is actual spectrum disorders on the forum) lol. Which is ironic because it's what you're claiming others are ITT. Take a moment to look up "The Dunning Kruger Effect", as it describes you to the "t". SRS

brb 4 year degree required
brb minimum 2 years experience
brb thorough knowledge of a very niche system we use

brb nobody applies for it
brb employer says "hurr durr maybe we should just post the same opening again -- don't change anything!"
A few of the jobs I passed on I would have applied if it paid even a little bit better. I guess a lot of companies out there can't be assed to shell out an extra $8,000 per year to get a position filled. Companies don't want to be competitive in a competitive job market. I guess that's going to be the hill they die on.

Corporations set unrealistic expectations for job applicants/ don’t train entry level positions and offer chit pay
Complain to the gov they can’t get workers
Gov bends over and let’s said corporations bring in foreign “skilled” workers then pay them half what they would an Australian

TBH I feel like the minimum wage should be $20/hour. Don't care if that shuts down the bars and restaurants that have been operating on razor thin margins. If you can't afford to pay your workers a living wage then maybe you're just a bad businessman?
We just have an obesity crisis in the west and gotta somehow stop people from eating chit food and chugging down soda like a cow.

That's right we need indentured contracts again. If a company trains you up from nothing then it needs to be like the military: you can't legally leave for 2 years, 5 years or whatever it is so they have a chance to recover those training costs.

I keep seeing the same talking point repeated about "paying people not to work" but in reality it seems like a non-issue overall, like when sleepy joe biden was "coming for your hamburgers".
Just sounds like conservative NPCs echoing the same thing again. Most people will forget about it a year from now.

I know now prices of stuff is shooting upwards but people don't realize is production got hampered a lot by covid stuff and people more leisure time so they're buying houses / investing more too. Apparently it might even be construed as evidence to support a 30 hour work week because if people got more leisure time maybe the investment market booms?

Livable wage.
Lmfao
Let's pay low end jobs that don't require skill $70,000 a year. Hell, let's pay joe blow $50,000 + benefits, dental, vision and 401k matching for mopping the floor and taking the trash out.
Hell, I got a bum **** neighbor who works in the government as a fuking janitor clearing above $70,000. Supposedly he calls himself a Sanitation & Maintenance Engineer.
In the end, no such thing as free money let alone higher wages without some type of skill or sacrifice.
