Not scared of it either, but still having the internal vaccine debate.

The question is, the Joe Rogan "young and healthy will be fine" argument seems to be falling apart somewhat.

is it though? There have been news reports of young healthy people dropping dead from the original covid. The fact that it's making the news means it's not very common.

Nothing wrong with having an internal vaccine debate. I guess you would have to know if the vaccine was effective against the varients or not. It seems like it isn't. I had a teammate who's sister is fully vaccinated and she still ended up in the hospital with a covid sickness. I think some people are just unlucky.

The chances of you knowing two young healthy people though...a little disheartening. Were they in your immediate circle? or friends of friends? hope they will be ok.

I always "grill" friends and family who have had it, and the struggle to breathe and fear that some describe is very real.
The phrase i feel like i was drowning keeps coming up over and over.
So you do you, but it is a coin flip.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

even more odd that two are on ventilators since they have moved away from that except for certain circumstances

Was just on a project where one of the office staff tested positive on April 23rd and passed away on May 2nd, caught the COVID while at work

Dude was probably mid 50s

Got two friends mid 30s-40 who tested positive, dude with the Brazilian variant, and they recovered in a few days

Yes ventilator use is not as common as it originally was with covid. But they're still used. I have a colleague who was on a vent this past Dec/Jan. Why? Because without it he'd have died I'm told. Unlike my cousin who was on a vent last May/June and has continuing lung issues, my colleague does not seem to have ongoing lung issues which is good. He should be back at work in June.

Is it not the least bit curious to you that mRNA vaccines according to the CDC are a brand new class of vaccines, and they were ready for general population in months, wheras something like HIV has been 50 years and we are just now seeing some hope? seems unrealistic the way the world works.

Like I said my area has incredibly low population density. There is like 10 cases in my entire district. Our ICU is empty. Not worried.

Yes I get that they use the vent to prevent death but I believe they only use it for people that are experiencing or have certain parameters - like not everyone that dies from covid right now would be put on a vent. But I might be misunderstanding it.

And lingering lung issues are also a common side effect of a bad respiratory infection. I had one 20+ years ago while I was in college and rowing and it took me several months before I could get my times back to where they were before it as i was sucking wind.

One nice thing about the virus is you're almost guaranteed to have no symptoms at all. Only a 1 in 5 chance you even know you have it!

Right at the onset of COVID One of our good customers died of covid.

great fella.. Super republican, always talked fishing with him when he came up to Canada.

I am probably coming across as a panic-cel, but I don't have any answers. Just was shocking to have two coworkers all stressed their friends might die.

Neighbor across the street is a healthy 39yo dude, does amateur half iron-man that kind of thing.

He caught the Brazilian variant, wound up on his back for 10-12 days. He said for most of it he could manage 3-4 hrs sitting up a day.

Got corona last week. Wasn’t fun for a few days and I dunno if it’s in my mind but I could feel it trying to do work in my lungs.

I was on zinc + quercetin + bromelain + C + D sporadically before and religiously throughout and have been good since yesterday - no fever since Friday.

Still a bit of a cough.

Definitely weirdest virus I’ve ever felt. Hope they recover quickly.

Only time I have heard "harden up" used a lot was by a bunch of New Zealanders I was hanging out with in Cambodia. Asked if they were Australian when I met them and they acted like I just slapped their mothers.

got my first Pfizer last week in Toronto after weighing pros and cons

covid risk complication is low. Covid complications can fuk the unlucky person up bad (Minnesota wild european draft pick)

Vaccine complication is extremely low. If I get sides from the vac or a bloodclot (less than 10p in Canada I believe) I can take meds and recover.

No brainer

No, it is not that curious. mRNA vaccines have been in development for many years. COVID came out of the blue and fuked the world up. And we answered with an extremely effective mRNA vaccine. We're cucking nature.

As for your local case volume - I think the more salient point is you have two friends in an ICU where their lives are constantly in danger and they will need months to recover if they survive. Are either of them on a ventilator? That's some serious ish. And totally avoidable if they had vaccinated.

Agreed, I think.

Only thing I worry about is a lack of long term testing of it, but those concerns are likely unwarranted.

The two people on ventilators are in the city, where predictably the risks are much higher for almost any communicable disease.

At least one of them has a variant. It was my understanding that at this moment the vaccines available don't address the variants?

I mean, I dont really want regular covid either..lol.

Looking like we will all need regular boosters to stay on top of it just like the regular flu that has almost completely disappeared now.

China should have been cut off from the rest of the world a year ago

Not to contain Covid, just as a response to their stupidity

I wouldnt worry about it, long term effects of getting covid aren’t known either. mRNA vaccines are new and now mainstream but mRNA tech was discovered the 50s or 60s and studied and mRNA technology has been used for other diseases like Zika, flu and some cancers

You can always get a non mRNA vaccine though those show to have more complications and usually less effective such as j&j & AstraZeneca

This is where I'm at and I wonder each day if I'm just being stubborn and foolish. Likely so but still working from home and not doing a whole lot outside yet (if we haven't beaten a record for rain this spring I'd be surprised).
