One thing I know from animal trapping is that if left unchecked, animal populations go up and down in big cycles. Populations increase until the carrying capacity is exceeded, then diseases or starvation, or both cause populations to plummet. The surviving members breed and the populations increase, and the cycle continues.

Through trapping and population management, we try and take about 20% of a population, and we even out the wild population swings, creating a steady, even population.

COVID, black death, AIDS etc are the Human version of the diseases that are supposed to knock down the human populations. Enter vaccines and healthcare.

We should all be starving, enter factory farming.


Our intelligence as humans will only take us so far. Nature will win eventually.

Saw a chopper the other day hauling one of those big buckets for dumping water on forest fires. Freaked my wife out when I said "think of all the fish they scoop up with those."

Inherently an anti-capitalism argument when you suggest the seafood industry should stop killing sea animals en mass for monetary gains, while the only people allowed to eat fish are those who live near water and catch/eat it themselves to survive. No surprise that the green movement is often associated with the good ole 'nism

Technically my human depopulation argument is also kind of anti capitalist, since capitalism kind of requires constant population growth to do really well. Same with my "kill it yourself" preference. Obviously thats not sustainable for all, but that is exactly my point. Population is too high, but capitalism works great until it cant any more.

I am not an economist (or whatever you call people who study that chit), but from what I understand anyway.

I would also like to think I am a capitalist despite living in soviet Canada...

Question: If human population were to suddenly decrease by say, 40..or even 60 percent...what would our current capitalist system look like? Could it change?

yeah I consider that more of an ethics debate. sociology vs economics, one not like the other, and people like Greta could easily attack the overpopulation, but its clear she gets more support by virtue signaling in favor of her vegan overlords who probably are the same people trying to displace meat with soybean/plant based meat

She's annoying af but over fishing and the damage we're doing to the oceans in general are a real problem, even more so than climate change imo. I could actually get on board with her advocating for these issues as I believe the threat is far more of an immediate concern than climate change.

But as I said, its the demand that's the problem. We shouldn't NEED to rape and pillage the world to fill bellies. its not the fact that we eat fish, the issue is we decimate populations.

And that boils down to...too many motherfukkers.


I am (often controversially) a proponent of SUSTINABLE whaling. A population is a population, and a life is a life, whether its a lion or an ant.

If it can be harvested sustainably and humanely, I see no problem.

But when populations crash (cod, a lot of whale species) we need to look at that under the microscope of proper wildlife management and long term sustainable populations.

She could also call out China for their demand for shark fins. That really is messed up. Millions of sharks are caught, their fins are hacked off and then they're just chucked back into to the water to die.

Cut her some slack. She was 16 when her authority figures trotted her up on stage and exploited her youth and vulnerability to their political advantage. We have too many people. Enter people like me who see value in all children and don't feel the need to have my own. What needs to happen is that the tremendous benefit of my choice to society should be recognized. Instead all child free women hear about is how they are just terrible, selfish people because they chose not to have children. Especially miscers. You should hear them go on and on with their eyes and ears shut about how I am messing with a "biological imperative" and how "god wants you to have kids." sheeze.

it is also extremely difficult to truly change your mind when you have been so indoctrinated.

we are in a good position to watch her as she gets older and see if she doubles down, or waffles somewhat.

I am betting as we have seen here, she doubles down as to not ruin the brand, but you never know.

been to Cambodia and can confirm.

They "harvest" dogs occasionally by driving down a road on a loud scooter with cans n chit behind it. When peoples pets and neighborhood dogs (you never know whose they are) come out to bark at the road, a second scooter comes along behind and snares them.

Dinner, but dont forget to beat them to death cuz tender.
