Unless you're a trust fund recipient, working less requires one to deliberately increase your skillset to save money. Unfortunately, a lot of modern people lack self-confidence for DIY and willpower to quit these conveniences, it seems.
I work far, far less than before, but now I also need to do EVERYTHING on my own car, to be able to still afford it. I bought another car late last year that was cheap because it needed doable, but knuckle-bashing work. Have spent $200 on car parts and maintenance fluids recently that would easily cost $2500-3000 with labor included if I took it to an indy mechanic.
I also learned to prepare my own food instead of take-out, and buy whole coffee beans in 1kg bags and grind them myself, then prepare in Italian-style coffeemaker. I haven't had starbucks for almost 12 years, srs.

how do these people expect to pay their bills? government won't be handing out checks forever, and the eviction moratorium will be lifted soon.. if these idiots think we will actually move to universal basic income, JFL
if by some retarded miracle we do move to UBI, those idiots will live the same lifestyle they had working minimum wage, if not worse, and they will be completely dependent on the government for everything

If that number is high, then they will have no choice but to reinstate/extend it. The reason being that there are only so many sheriffs available to execute forced evictions. If they don't have the manpower for it, then the worst thing for the govt would be if people realized they were breaking the law by staying, and yet there were zero consequences (due to not enough LE) to follow through after banks and landlords sent threatening letters.
Cliffs: the govt/LE only has control as long as society believe it does.

Fannie Mae announced today that it would extend its forbearance program on multifamily properties until Sept. 30, 2021. This means that Fannie borrowers who own multifamily properties that they rent out can ask their lender to push out their monthly payments due to financial hardship from the Covid-19 pandemic. In doing so, the borrower also cannot evict any renters during that same time period.
Fannie acknowledges that both property owners and renters are still struggling financially as a result of the Covid-induced recession, which prompted the government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) to extend the forbearance deadline three more months from its previous June 30 deadline.
