man made global warming is a scam
maybe not a myth, but how they are going about it is a scam against humanity. Taxing us, restricting us, fear mongering us. It's pathetic.
I think it would be a cruel joke on man if we used the resources God gave us, and he turned around and let us LDAR from growing and prospering from using the tools He gave us. The Earth is a self regulating closed system, it's all good man.

Without bringing politics into this, there is enormous empirical evidence of global warming, and we have good atmospheric physics theories and models to predict and explain it. The vast majority of atmospheric physicists and atmospheric chemists and meteorologists agree that human activity is the main forcer driving the sudden climate change seen in the last century. Without bringing politics into this, people who deny the science do so because they are either idiots or a malignant cancer out to make a quick buck at humanity's expense.

Without bringing politics into this, the Republican party is actively out to destroy humanity's future.

all i know is that white supremacists are causing the climate change and good liberals and democrats who drive hybrid cars and throw plastic into recycling bins are the saviors of mankind and not getting vaccinated is directly linked to hotter summers and colder winters.

bolded part is the real reason so many people believe in it.

It is another instance of people wanting to believe their lives have more significance and meaning than they actually do. People like to think things we are doing now effect the whole entirety of the billions of years the earth has been here. They want to think something THEY did in the 80 years of existence in which they lived somehow changed the course of the planet for another 2 billion years.

Just think how narcissistic you have to be to think that in your 80 year life span you have made such an impact on a planet that has been here for:

100,000,000 million years times 50
a planet that has been here for FIVE THOUSAND million years
our lifespan on this planet is 1/62,500,000, but it is THE lifespan that changes the course of the earth

OKAY

Not at all.

However, the realistic political interventions mostly seem to cost more than they're worth.

We would do better moving to northern Canada in giant greenhouses than most of these changes.

water is literally infinitely recyclable

sun hits the water, water vapor goes into clouds until it rains until it goes back into the ground or wherever and the cycle repeats

you may have more of a point if its all polluted; moreso where it rains and the rain goes into the polluted water BUT im not knowledgeable enough to know the chemical reactions/ purity of the vapor when it goes into the clouds

and whether polluted water could become unpolluted without man made intervention

Nobody is actually denying climate change. The issue is what part of it are humans contributing in the grand scheme. You have to realise China/India are major polluters especially compared to the west. Yet they want us to lower our quality of life? The good ole tax more and throw money at it solution, that'll solve it

I'm a libertarian but I do think humans have a small effect on the natural cycle of the earths climate which is probably just changing seasons.

I do my part to help as much as possible by recycling, trying to buy the least amount of plastic possible and driving a fuel effecient for daily duty instead of my truck.

No. I don't think we're doing the environment any favors, and fully support moving to more sustainable living, clean energy, etc. HOWEVER...

All this anti-human propaganda blaming the masses for ruining the environment is bullsh!t. It's a few corporate monopolies doing most of the damage, and I have the feeling it's not nearly as dire as they try and claim. But the way they convince a bunch of people to kill their unborn children over "carbon emissions" is really evil sh!t. You kid won't do as much damage in his or her life as the people giving that speech give in a year of public appearances.

Yeah it really doesn't matter what the west does as much when China and India really don't give AF and just dump all their garbage in the ocean. If they are not on board we are just wasting our time trying to fight it. In reality the Paris agreement is really just a big money laundering heist to take billions from the people and maybe put 1% into actually doing something to prevent rising temps. World leaders do this kind of chit all the time (see the Clinton Foundation and what it did to "help" Africa).

lmao at climate change

have you ever noticed these fuks are always saying the world is about to end 10 years from now?

Al gore was saying by 2010-2015 manhattan was goign to be underwater from the polar ice caps melting. he was saying this in 2000. that chit came and went.

john kerry flys around on his private plane farting out 100 people's carbon outputs per trip to lecture us peasants on the world ending in 2030 if we dont "change" which usually amounts to passively supporting whatever tax payer funding they throw at subsidization of for profit companies and 3rd world countries.

lmao if you buy into their bullchit

I dont think its the doomsday scenario the media wants you to believe, but how tf could pollution not be a problem? Clean air and water are my main concerns.

The ocean is legit filled with trash, that's obviously a huge problem. Mercury poisoning is obviously real.

Same with air quality. We can't keep pumping out toxins and breathing them in all the time. That sht causes birth defects and all kinds of cancer.

I highly support nuclear power. Anyone who fears is it is a shill or ****.

This.

Is pollution a problem though? Yes. Should we be conscious of the destruction of the earth by humans? Yes.

The same people that want socialism, push vaccines, gender ideology, climate change types, seem to be all the same people. So it's hard to take anything they say seriously, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of the earth. I remember seeing signs in Glacial NP that the glacier would be gone by like 2019, guess what, still there.

People don't understand the history of the earth very well either, the entire Midwest use to be an ocean, and the believe it or not the Rocky Mountains use to not exist. The earth will likely be here when we're wiped from it in the next natural disaster.

I think there's value in reducing pollution regardless and that should be the goal, and I think Nuclear power is currently massively underutilized in this

I also think the push for solar and EVs is largely misguided and will lead to other consequences and fossil fuels are here for many more decades to come, that's just the reality and the best we can hope for is adapting to any changes that may be coming while we work to move towards alternatives.

Is that why they don't have any actual proof that humans are causing it, and instead rely completely on models?

yes climate change is real, I'll even concede that part of what we've seen in the past century is likely human caused

but just because people don't agree with terrible ideas on how to combat climate change, as if it doesn't affect many other different areas, doesn't make them climate change deniers. Climate change alarmists and conspiracy theorists have also been around for awhile. "Oil is going to run out by 2020! New York will be underwater! We need population control". Much of this stuff still goes on but under a different cause. I don't think anybody is opposed to renewable sources of energy, green energy that minimizes impact on the environment in general, just the policies surrounding it and current feasibility on a national scale. Or even the idea of being carbon neutral. But some of these technologies do have significant downsides to them. And people use "climate change" as a platform to push their own crazy agendas.

Other initiatives too like planting trees, recycling, weaning off plastics, etc. Legit think people who purposely litter, throw cigarette butts out the window are scum of the earth and should be thrown into the ocean. They were never a net positive to society most likely.

Earth's temperature fluctuates a lot over the course of years. Nothing mythological about that.

We go back and forth between ice ages and hot periods every few tens of thousands of years. Right now we're in a relatively cold period and increasing towards something more habitable for humans. No use making a fuss over it.

As with everything politicized I love the bimodal distribution in the responses. Look, the climate is changing....that is a measurable fact. Human activity is a component of this, though degree and future interpolation is where views may differ. But human involvement is almost certainly a measurable cause.

One political party will exploit this for short-term personal gain through misguided policies and products to better mother earth and the other will deny it and seek short-term gain for personal profit with total disregard for the global long-term impacts. We are not capable of making rational decisions in this circumstance when we cannot even agree on what the facts are.

In the end this is a risk/reward conversation we are not advanced enough to have. If we can agree on a reasonable model, not just of where the earth is heading at the current industrial rate, but in contrast to where it is going at reduced levels of human impact then we can deduce our best course of action. How do we trade off short term economic benefits and quality of life for long-term benefits to humanity? How do we measure such things?

In the end all we do is trade fossil fuels for strip mining rare earth metals using practically slave labor and consider ourselves morally superior. Or just claim it's a farce perpetrated by the left to slow down the economy. In the end both opinions are coping mechanisms of morons.

Edit: and my favorite ridiculous 'green' product: bio-plastics.

What we do today: Utilize the non-biodegradable byproducts of petroleum distillation to manufacture non-biodegradable but useful plastics.

What they want to do: turn biodegradable plant matter into nearly non-biodegradable plastics (and then apparently send the petroleum byproducts that were used before to the landfill as we no longer need them). You literally went the wrong direction. But GREEN!!

Climate change is real, however the Earth has always gone through periods of heating and cooling. Nothing we do will change that. Man is accelerating it but some of the fear is overblown as to how much. I don't think there is anything wrong to look for cleaner forms of energy but that doesn't mean outright banning certain things like gas-powered cars like some environmentalists want. I'd like to see more nuclear being built and some focus going into protecting our oceans and and fresh water supplies.

Everyone seems to want to blame coal and gas powered cars but many who live in cities and complain about how hot the weather is getting tend to ignore the the heat island effect. Cities get hotter than the countryside due to urban sprawl. Asphalt retains heat and windows from skyscrapers and apartments magnify sunlight. Phoenix is an example of this which stays hot at night, unlike the surrounding desert which doesn't because the natural landscape doesn't retain heat. The more that's built, the hotter it will become. That won't change unless people start moving back to rural communities which likely will not happen.

Climate change is definitely real. It's been happening for millions of years.

Our impact and extent of that impact is what's questionable.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.
