This. You need to be BRUTALLY transparent with yourself on why you feel the way you feel. This is difficult for most because it means confronting ourselves, and that we fail to be the ideal we set ourselves up to be. Maybe you are bad with time, maybe you cant stick to a diet, maybe you are a pushover, etc. Whatever it is if you are transparent with yourself it allows you to decide what is worth fixing vs tolerating. When you realize this you realize you have control over almost everything in your life - the buck stops with you.

MOST people cant handle this and just cope or complain. But if you are capable of the introspection and self accountability then you will rarely be unsatisfied with life srs.

Enjoying the little things in life and tuning out the negativity. It’s easy when you think about. You create your own emotions. Each second is a new beginning. Make the best of it. Don’t take everything seriously. Do things that make you feel good.

Fapping helps me.

In all srs, I’ve found that when I’m not “happy”, it’s because I overthink stuff; which I think is what almost all of us do. Just gotta stay out of your head and enjoy life.

When I look back at all the times I've been stressed/sad/etc, I've always come to the realization that 90% of the time, it's self inflicted. It took me a long time to realize that but I've really learned to be kind and patient with myself over the years knowing that I can't avoid all of the stressors in life.

Accepted that at best it's never going to get better, it may even get worse and can't wait for the end. Ok, maybe not bubbling with positivity, but not negative.

All you need to be happy is: a decent living (easy) and decent people around you (very difficult).

Those 2 things would make my life complete

The emotional makeup gets imprinted nearly permanently. To overcome it takes serious work and proper guidance.

Fascinating thread. The amount of broken people is far higher than even I thought - however it's possible this could be a self-selecting group of misfits who frequent the misc.

Nobody is happy all the time, and to seek out such a result, or to think it's even possible, is a good indicator of why so many people are discontented in the first place - seeking things which are inherently not possible. If you were "always happy" that would become the default / baseline starting point, so how would you feel REAL happiness if you were already always happy? I guess the best example to illustrate this is a druggie always chasing the next fix.....X amount of drugs used to get the desired effect, now it takes more and more to achieve same "high".

The second place I would suggest most people start is setting expectations in life.
Take a realistic assessment of yourself - strengths/weaknesses without any sugarcoating PC nonsense.
where do you want to be at 30, 40, 50, etc.
What will it take to achieve your desired (realistic) outcomes?
Are you on track? Do you need to reset / reevaluate? What's blocking you?
Are these desired outcomes something YOU want, or is it societal programming telling you what you SHOULD want?
Do you use social media? If yes, stop immediately and punch yourself in the nards 3x for being dumb enough to use it in the first place.

It's not complicated boyo's. Do you have a path laid out for what YOU want out of life? Are you actively working towards those goals? Do you have the skills / marketable skills to achieve the outcomes you want? What kind of people are you surrounded with? Remember, when you start improving your life, the losers around you will ALWAYS seek to pull you back into their misery, or make fun of you for chasing whatever outcome (doesn't even matter what the outcome is) you want. Continue to reassess / reevaluate as necessary.

Nothing happens overnight - but as men, we are most happy when we have a goal, have the steps laid out to accomplish the goal, and are actively building toward it and crossing off items toward that path. Measurable improvement.

Good luck brothers, up to each one of you to do the actual work, nobody's going to hold your hand.

I'm one of those people, and I live my life by one simple rule - I can't control what happens to me, I can only control how I choose to react. I've had some really, really ****ty things in my life that I don't get into in online forums because I'm a private person, but I'll be damned if I let them dominate my life.

For some reason mornings are rough and I wake up feeling empty pretty often. Its a very hard to describe feeling, I guess the urge to give up and be defeated by life would be close. I went down that road for a couple years and it wasn't pretty. An exercise I like to do before I get out of bed is to close my eyes and lay there. Now imagine this is your life, blind, silent, can't get up and move around, stuck in bed. Then I open my eyes and take a look around, listen to the birds outside my window, and I sit up to say my morning prayer. I remember that I have my health, family that loves me, friends that give a ****, and I can get up today and do pretty much whatever I want. Suddenly my problems seem really fukken small and I just carry that energy until it is time to get up tomorrow.

By any metric in this world I should be pretty broken but here I am feeling damn good.

The common theme is to put blinders on and ignore reality as much as possible in order to be happy.

If that's what it takes to be happy, that means life sucks.

Wrong, that's lying to yourself. The key is accepting the bad, really accepting it not just faking it, and to be perfectly honest it makes the good feel really, really good.

And yes, life does suck. It really does and some things do hurt forever despite what people tell you. But it's about enjoying the good times as best as you can in between the bad ones and I'm very good at that.

I read a book this year that challenged me to quit complaining for 3 weeks straight. I haven't strung together that many days, yet, but it has definitely made me more happy.

When you realize how many conversations revolve around complaining, gossip, and negativity, and then cut that out, it forces you to choose your thoughts and words a lot more carefully which improves your mindset. And less people bitch around you because you don't engage them.
