Though the Chinese suffered terrible casualties in the process and the war would continue for another three years (and technically has not ended), the American-led un force never again threatened to reunify the peninsula.

The result was catastrophic: One of the worst defeats, and one of the most ignominious withdrawals, in American military history.
It was, in some senses, a repeat of his debacle at Bataan. Only in this case, MacArthur had been outwitted and outflanked by a guerrilla army with no air force, crude logistics, and primitive communications, an army with no tanks and precious little artillery. As David Halberstam put it, MacArthur had “lost face not just before the entire world, but before his own troops, and perhaps most important of all, before himself.”

American publications that acknowledge the humiliation. You dont ask for 34 nukes to beat a then quite peasant China if you arent getting humiliated.

People should read about these so-called volunteers. The Chinese sent huge numbers of people and they didnt care one bit how many were killed. When you are dealing with an adversary that has superior numbers you have to pull out all the stops on what you will do.
Just like the last bunch of wars, the US military was handcuffed by DC. There were all kinds of things they would not allow them to do. The end result is you have what we have today.

Do people still think wars are fought with guns and bombs in today’s world?
That’s low level terrorist sh*t.
That’s not how the major players fight their enemies these days.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."
