That was from preliminary trials. Note the date. Current data out of Israel on a large scale showed differently. He reported what was known at the time. What you view as contradictions are actually evolving trends in the science. You need to follow what is going on. There is still some debate over the efficacy of the vaccines vs Delta. But one thing all experts agree on is that it is better than nothing. You definitely want the vaccine. It's just debatable if vaccination will be enough to slow the spread, and more recent evidence suggests it won't be.

The vaccines have reduced the severity of delta infections and frequency of deaths though.

TLDR: Current evidence says vaccines are better than nothing, but this delta strain won't be stopped by the vaccine. The vaccine will help mitigate symptoms and death. It is expected to mitigate spread only a little, and not as much as they had hoped before.

For the most part the healthcare and scientific communities were hoping a big enough chunk of the population would get vaccinated that we would achieve herd immunity and the virus would run out of hosts and only pop up here in the US occasionally. It would still be endemic, but its significance would be reduced to that of the annual flu season.

It's not a lie. The vaccine offers some protection against Delta. It just isn't what they had hoped. Fauci has always been telling what the current science shows. He's been straight. the only thing u might nag him about is not recommending n95s early on, which he didn't for good reason...doctors needed those n95s. Also u might criticize the CDC for opting to vaccinate essentials over the elderly first. That was a ruthless economic decision and wasn't consistent with what we know from science. Obviously both groups matter, but the elderly definitely need it more. Fauci had no role to play in that btw.

Since we're seeing vaxxed people get infected, someone choosing not to get vaxxed has the potential to impact vaxxed people, let alone other people like who kids who don't have the option to get vaxxed. The person choosing not to get vaxxed is potentially directly impacting the wellbeing of other people.1) no they aren't, the Hyde Ammendment restricts government funding of abortions except to save the life of the woman, or if the pregnancy arises from incest or rape.
