it's all about the Great Reset which is a highly-coordinated transition to communistic, fascistic, brutally oppressed TOTALITARIANISM

I'd rather spread it out and protect the most vulnerable. Let old/sick people stay home, encourage them to get vaccinated (although I wish the vaccines had a lot more testing behind them), encourage social distancing, make sure hospitals are able to meet the demand. Do not shut down the economy or close schools.
The knee jerk, "LOCK DOWN EVERYTHING" response just doesn't work. It hasn't anywhere. We have 50 states, there are many countries on the planet, a lot of places tried different approaches. In the end, none of it seemed to work when it came to the harsh lockdowns.
Unfortunately, this means some people will get sick. Some may will die. This is inevitable and unfortunate. Everyone should do everything in their own personal power to be healthier, that means no garbage, reduce/eliminate alcohol, cut back on processed garbage, avoid sugars, etc... that should be the message being sent out to the world. Instead, it's vaccines and free donuts & beer. This blaming someone else when you get sick mentality.

The reason why endless boosters are necessary (ie that the vaccines don't do much and don't last long) is the same thing that will make the whole vaccine passport fad disappear in no time and quickly become a bemusing historical novelty that lots of people don't even remember was ever a thing.

Without vax >90% effectiveness and without being able to eliminate the virus by any other means, it will keep circulating and probably until most everyone is infected at least once within a few years.
The best we can hope for is that is mutates into dominant strains that are far less virulent, and/or maybe herd immunity will greatly reduce the prevalence.
and yes - everyone getting healthier, by losing weight, by getting some moderate exercise, by improving cardiopulmonary risk factors, would help greatly to improve their outcomes. It seems the excess bodyweight is a big risk factor. I lost 25 lbs last year through diet and exercise over the summer specifically because of this.

IMO masks are a small inconvenience and can reduce the spread [not stop the spread] when it is necessary for people to be in close contact.I sincerely don't know if it is worth it at this point, but my daughter feels "safer" with masks and so when we go out together we use them. If a mask allows people to function and not be hostage to their anxiety I don't see the problem. Maybe it is 90% or more placebo effect, but the placebo effect is a real thing. Maybe people who wear a mask and take precautions don't believe they are likely to be infected and so are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms when infected?
If by social distancing you mean "6 feet apart" that was thoroughly disproven by a study some time back:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7357531/
If you mean social distancing as in staying in and avoiding contact with any other humans? As a society we can't all do that. And with the vaccine even most vulnerable people don't have to be shut ins, though seeing how the vaccine is performing they also probably shouldn't act like the virus doesn't even exist just yet.
The other factor is that the virus is not only circulating in humans. It has also been detected in animals.Already posted this twice, but 1/3rd of whitetail deer have antibodies. IMO that means that eradication is extremely unlikely at this time.
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02168-4
So the plan is if you are at risk get the vaccine and/or become a shut in/hermit if that is what your personal circumstances require.
You might want to read this NYP article about how we will probably build up immunity over a few years:
https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021...r-problem.html
A lot of our schools have mask mandates despite the Texas governor making a decree against them. And still there are a lot of children and teachers in the school who are infected and schools are closing.
I'm afraid that is just how it is going to be. We will have waves of infection and over time most people will survive and most people will become immune.
Like most coronaviruses so far.
Keep Calm And Carry On
Can you imagine if our leadership would take this stance instead of constantly flogging fear, panic, and control measures?
ETA: they are harping about mask mandates in schools again so I feel the need to say I do not support mask mandates in schools as I think that the net effect on young children is negative [social and psychological factors, ability to focus and learn].
