Yup.

Had aspirations of eventually buying a multifamily complex, renting out the other apartments and trying top duplicate that to eventually "retire."

Now, with all these moratoriums, yeah fuk that.

STR (short term rental crew). Put the house on AirBnb & have two reservations already. Probably wont ever entertain long term tenants unless rent is somehow guaranteed through the gov't or they pay all up front.

Yep...I've changed. Most of my changes were due to the BLM riots.


-I dont visit the large city near me at all and for any purpose.
-I limit the places/times I interact with large groups of people.
-I've always been pro 2A but I pack heat wherever I go these days.

Realized I didn't want marriage/kids quite a while ago regardless, but yeah...clown world just makes me want them even less.

Otherwise I work a fairly chill job (though it can certainly be frustrating at times) with good work/life balance, live in a relatively low COL city, make a fairly solid income, and am putting away a significant amount for retirement. I'm just kind of coasting tbh.

Wife was in the Military, I worked a Gov. contract job had a Nice house 30 minutes form the beach was working towards climbing the ladder being all we can be...

Now...

We moved back home to "the country" in Alabama...to the land I grew up on. I have a job that allows my wife to stay home with our 1 year old daughter, we have a very close community and are very close with our Family.

Life goals now is to just protect and raise my family. Provide for them to the best of my ability. Raise my daughter to try and help change this world.

We are not "doomsday preppers" by any means, but we have prepared our house.

I think its great and life is better than ever. I fell down the rabbit hole of vaccine conspiracies for a while. But my wife said she won't let me sleep in our bed unless I get the vaccine so I did. I've felt really low energy and blacked out a couple times since, but they said it's normal and should resolve itself.
As far as home life goes, it's pretty good. A new guy has just moved in down the street, one of those refugee's. My wife insisted on inviting him over for dinner. She likes to invite people a lot, Jerry the neighbour is often here when I get back from the office. He's always working on odd jobs while the wife makes him coffee or snacks.
Anyway its dinner tonight and I get to go out and do the grocery run! I'm double-masking for this trip as the latest report said someone got tested positive for covid about 10 miles away, so better to be safe.

I actually changed gears and doubt I’ll finish my PhD anymore. I’m not getting the vaccine and I’m enjoying remote teaching. Back into industry making some money is ok but incredibly unfulfilling for me

My goals have always been roughly the same but it definitely has lit an even hotter fire under my ass to become self sufficient ASAP. Currently am an accountant and have a side business but need to expedite the process of not having to rely on having a job where I work for someone else and the paychecks. This covid vaccine debacle really exposed how phucked people that rely on others for paychecks are in the long term

Don't forget to switch on your yearly allowance of vacation milage when you drive the wife and kids up to your government regulated timeshare. Would hate to bill you 25cents on the mile plus tax (because milage is now a comsumer good in the ev world). Upgrade to the Tesla business class package and you can unlock zero to 60 in 5 seconds and an additional 10miles driven a day at no cost.

That begs the question…

If our ancestors knew half the **** that would happen in the future would they still have their children? Lol

If I was able to look into a crystal ball 50years into the future and saw that things got even worse with societal issues and global warming….would I want to bring a kid into the world?

a little. before covid, i couldn't stay in a single country for more than 3 months at a time. covid forced me to sign a year lease in the states, and when everything pseudo-opened back up again... it's like i wasn't in the mood to travel/explore anymore.

it mostly ended my bachelor-heaux stage too. Thought i'd switch girls regularly forever, but now i'm trying to lockdown a solid woman to build a family with. That's just more important to me now for some reason.

Yes.

- I want a job in the medical field (hospital setting), but starting to not be interested in that anymore
- I don't care for the Government, nor do I trust them on either side
- I do not care much about my state anymore (Oregon)
- I never thought about moving states, but I am considering it now
- I wanted the big fancy job with lots of money, now I'd rather have that 9-5
- I do not care to talk to people I meet in Oregon anymore because I do not care for petty arguments

I started my family last year. Everything going on has made me more determined to build a strong family. I think it is one of the most important contributions you can make to society.

I understand why some people are hesitant, though.

Spreading your seed is the most basic instinct. Most people can’t see past that. The people lining up at Walmart are the people who can’t see past themselves. They’ll also raise kids who are just as ignorant.
