Can’t speak for other areas, but the focus here is on limiting the burden on our health care system and ensuring there is capacity for the typical accidents, other procedures, and various chit that eats up hospital capacity.

We have no illusions about stopping the virus completely but need to keep hospitalization/ICU numbers within a certain range. The vaccines are helping to keep vaccinated people out of hospital beds, but this is so transmissible that it’s still getting to unvaccinated people in high enough numbers to bog down the health care system.

In Canada 68 people in the age range of 20-29 died (my range). So out of 294000 covid cases (20-29), 68 died. Which gives the death rate of covid 0.002%. 1/500th of 1%, and obv if you're not phat as fuk or have any other comorbidities you're not gonna die.

If hospital capacity were the issue they wouldn't be firing unvaxxed nurses.
The experience of most medical staff has been that hospitals have been ghost towns during Chinese flu.

That’s most likely because of their testing methods. From the start they were not using any scientific standard and testing. In medicine, you don’t test for certain illnesses if somebody’s not showing signs and symptoms for it. Why? Because of false positives.

The numbers are never going to be right until the self proclaimed “scientists” learn how to test appropriately. Until then, all they are doing is producing corrupt data and creating inaccurate results. These people are not stupid, I believe they know what they are doing. I believe that the key to the Democrat success are unethical testing standards. That seems to be the case in many areas, including education too

Back when the vaccines had 95% efficacy at preventing infection, herd immunity was a real possibility for countries that could afford to vaccinate the vast majority of their populace. This was also back before the Delta variant became the dominant variant of sars-cov-2. The delta variant is so transmissible that herd immunity is practically impossible.

Anyways, the vaccines are still great at preventing severe disease/hospitalization/death.

Day 16 here, all symptoms over except difficult breathing and still some loss of taste. 70% lung function, gotta build that back up.

Scary fukking virus is you get a bad case of it like me. VERY thankful to now have a base protection of natural immunity having fought it off, I will be interested to see where they end up as far as how effective natural vs. vaccination for protection - yes I've seen the numbers but they keep changing.

We can ignore testing and just look at historical trends for hospital bed utilization and excess deaths, all this stuff is tracked and forecasted by health authorities as part of their planning/budgeting processes. You can't control what you don't measure, and testing is merely what provides the measurement to facilitate informed decision-making.

The idea that COVID would disappear if we turned off the news might be true in that it would leave the public consciousness, but the health care system knows what to expect in a typical year and would still be sounding the alarm over a new respiratory disease consuming their capacity.
