How many billions of dollars in materiel did the Soviets leave behind?

Should we have been there to start with? Probably not.
Did this administration put us there? No.
That doesn't remove responsibility for an organized withdrawal.
Can someone tell me-
If we were making a planned withdrawal with a set last day in country why the hell weren't the civilians evacuated FIRST???
If we had assets there that needed to be evacuated but were not cleared yet to come to the US why couldn't they be temporarily relocated outside of Afghanistan?
I understand that the civilians weren't under compulsion to leave and could not be force to leave, but if they were at least informed in person and told "leave at this time or sign here to signify that by staying you are risking your life and property as this country may fall to extremists" at least you could say they knew and they had the chance to leave safely.
All I have read is that they knew about the withdrawal date, but nothing about an organized effort to evacuate citizens prior to closing down US military operations.
The only legit exception I can think of would be staff of the consulate we had there. For them I can understand only leaving once it was known that the country had fallen and the consulate would be closed.

The overall war was worse for the Soviets but if you're going to say their withdrawal was worse, you need to back it up. I'm having trouble imagining a more grotesque cluster**** than the one to which the current administration has led us.

IIRC last time people were let in to the buildings by staff or some such and mostly I think one followed another one as people often do.
After seeing the job loss and criminal prosecution of people who did that I think people will stay outside.

I only support defensive war, for the reasons outlined below.
Americans need to:
1 - engage in war less often
2 - re-gain the stomach for brutality
drop these terms: nation-build, hearts & minds, liberate, surgical, drone, collateral
use these terms: exterminate, reduce to zero, sarin gas, moab, brutal
imo war should be about population reduction and extermination until complete surrender (only allow surrender after a baseline extermination/reduction has been achieved).
how can you be attacked from a region if the population of the region is Zero?
Effect of Population Reduction
Before war:
Region A - population 419,000
Region A - attacks originating from, 246
After:
Region A - population 0
Region A - attacks originating from, 0 <------- Note the region is no longer producing attacks
Modulation
Perhaps there is an equilibrium above 0 population in which the attacks drop to zero, for example,
After:
Region A - population 64,000
Region A - attacks originating from, ~0
At that point, population reduction will have solved the problem and further war is no longer necessary.

You can applaud Biden for finally puling us out of there, but also criticize the way he did it...
Same thing with Trump... you can applaud him for laying the ground work for the withdrawal which still would have happened under his watch (Biden just didn't reverse it), but still criticize him letting out Taliban prisoners.

the corrupt/senseless conflict had to end one way or the other, and it was never going to be a pretty ending. I think the Biden admin deserves criticism for running the evacuation out of Kabul Airport instead of Bagram air base.

People fuking wasting their time and effort on some useless issue and country.
Move the fuk on, deal with the things that matter. Stop trying to make everything a crusade, this is exactly why the right is in the mess that it's in, and the liberal cucks are taking over.

Did this administration put us there? No.
That doesn't remove responsibility for an organized withdrawal.
It definitely looked like a hot mess from the cheap seats.

You can send soldiers up the mountains, which is what they did, but they still managed to form a full army, come down from the mountains and retake the whole country.

Afghanistan was never going to work for us since day 1. We only went over there because the US is cucked by fake-news media convincing them we needed to find WMDs that didn't exist.

They obviously don’t care about being led by them and didn’t want us there in the first place. I give 0 ****s about that mountainous ****hole of a country at this point.
