A lot of the parents knew exactly what was going on because the kids told them, but they wanted the success and potential stardom more than their kids' safety.

I don't think it had anything to do with being alpha. Sports and especially something as high profile as elite gymnastics are crazy competitive at that level. The fact that those girls even made it to a point where they had access to the best trainers and doctors around means they'd all be extremely headstrong and determined to make it in something as difficult as high level gymnastics. It's a mentality where you HAVE to believe that you can make it and no obstacle can shake that determination or you definitely won't make it. Then there's the fact that he must've actually been really good at speeding up their injury recovery so they figure it's better to just shut up than possibly jeopardize everything they've been busting their ass for. That's exactly what he preyed on. The fact that all their hopes and dreams could be destroyed if they say anything.

What's even worse in my book is that these kids all had parents who either turned a blind eye or were clueless that their kids were getting molested regularly. A few you might get away with, but over 250? It's ridiculous that it took so long for him to get caught.

If my daughter ever came home and said she got some kind of pelvic exam from a male doctor without anyone else present he'd be getting a beatdown pretty fast.

Yeah they've also spent 10's of thousands at that point. One on one lessons from a top trainer in something like gymnastics is about the most expensive sport you could get your kid involved in. They all come from very well off or rich families.

blame has to be somewhat on the parents. No way they didnt know. Considering some parents go asking coaches for steroids for their 14 year old's for sports, this may not be as shocking....

but as a father knowing that your daughter is getting abused by a sweaty hairy guy and doing nothing about it is just so so sad..... living life through their children.
