Fast for 5 days. Just drink water and coffee. Break your addiction to foods and your imbalance w/ hormones that you've built with what sounds a lot like some degree of metabolic syndrome. When you break that fast, do it with something wholesome and easy to digest. Maybe fruit or if you want to keep it lower carb, a salad of some sort.

Starving yourself at 1,500 a day is much harder than just not eating, IMO. You get hungry, particularly days 1-2, but it comes and goes. When you're eating like a bird, you're constantly miserable and tired. Fasting, your body starts ramping up adrenaline early on, I do get winded after too much activity but it comes right back.

Starving with low calories is also harder on your metabolism. While fasting, in addition to adrenaline, your body produces mass amounts of growth hormone, helps maintain lean mass and burn fat. Other hormonal responses happen, lowering insulin one of them, which really help fat be the primary source of fuel.

In your case, it'll also help reset some of your bad habits. You sound like you crave chitty foods, that's hormones.

Fast on what though? Water is still needed right? Coffee just black? Is iced tea okay? Need more about this 5 day.

I eat 4 meals and 2 shakes usually.

Free will is a gift and a curse. I have to have discipline to not eat all of the great food which I have easy access to

I feel like I'd die if I fasted for 5 days brah. Either that or want to binge hard afterwards. I've fasted for a couple days before, it's cool but not the most moderate approach.

Well I've done it and I didn't. Personally included black coffee/tea and 0 cal sports drinks here and there for electrolytes.

Only made it 5 days though and I started out planning on 7. I had read that if you started getting nausea/vomiting you should quit. So I did.

Water and black coffee. You should also supplement electrolytes while fasting longer then 40 hours. Potassium and sodium are most necessary.

Water, black coffee, unsweetened tea, all should be fine. I know from our years-back chats you have some health issues, fasting should not get in the way of them, but check into that before you do any fast.

Someone mentioned electrolytes, probably not the worst idea in the world. Sometimes you're fasting, you feel like dirt, you take a dash of salt and you immediately feel better. Potassium & sodium are the main ones there, as already noted.
