I ran a full marathon a couple years ago just to do it. For me, once and done. It was really painful and all the training for it got me too shredded, it was just too much.

I don't think it's a healthy thing to do regularly, and was actually surprised at how many runners looked like normal sloppy Americans. Seeing them at the grocery store you'd never guess they ran marathons.

I think distance running trains your body to store fat as efficiently as possible, so while these sloppy looking people could run long distances way better than me, a shredded and jacked man, they looked like ****.

Worth doing once though just as a test of will IMO. Hit a couple points where I considered giving up. It was good for the soul.

I haven't done anything like that. I'll jog for 3 miles in the morning but that's about the extent of it for me.

I have a cousin, who's husband I have been told runs crazy insane races that are over 100 miles. He's an oncologist. I figure he's breathing in to many chemotherapy drugs.
