Pre financial crisis it was actually pretty dank….they never measured the toppings/meats and would just pile chit on srs.


After 2008 and QE, most places have gone to hell (including subway)….a footlong there now is basically the equivalent of a 6 inch pre 2008 (plus more carbs) srs.

$5 dollar Footlongs saved them from extinction. Now I think the delivery applications are keeping them afloat. I'd rather order from a real Deli with premium-quality(Thumans/Boarshead) cold cuts.

Can confirm Subway in Australia is GOAT. Subway everywhere else is complete ****. I worked at a subway in Australia as a 14 year old, Absolute goat job making me own subs.

The ingrediants in Australia are a bit better but its the bread which makes it good in aus.

I have no idea. They used to be cheap, which was a driving factor but it's not even cheap now. I had to go there yesterday with my kids because the 3 local deli's we like are closed Mondays and we wanted Hoagies. Cost me $34 for 3 sub meals (12").

Local Deli costs less than $20 for the same. I don't see why anyone would choose to go to Subway over a deli.

Their boxes ended up being regurgitated value menu crap items.

That's what floors me about them. The boxes used to be legit. $5 for one of their "premium" burritos/chalupas/tacos, a value menu burrito, churros, and a drink. Now it's like 3 value menu burritos, nachos, and a drink for $8.

Fuk Taco Bell. srs. Hope they die in a methane fire.

Because it take them like 1.5 minutes to make a sandwich since everything is pre cut in bins, I'm pretty sure they are timed to make sure of this. Go to a deli and they will usually fresh slice the meat and while better tasting isn't as fast and people go to Subway because it's fast.

The $5 Nacho Premium Box Meal was pretty good, that new value crap poverty box stuff they have now is trash.

Ingredients are ****, cheap locations yes a lot, employees are you get what you pay for.

With that said like 2 blocks from my work is one of the only stand alone subways I've seen (own building just like McDonalds or whatever else) and they start at like $16 an hour.

Subway turned to trash about the same time they stopped using the V-cut bread in the late 90s..Everything was fresh back then and it was a top tier sub. Now everything is fake food out of a bag. I wouldnt eat subway if it was free these days (dead srs)




There are half a dozen better chain delis..Just a few that are better:

Even post-2012 and bleeding into 2018 I liked them for:

- Broccoli and cheddar soup
- Egg white sandwich with cheese and spinach on wheat

And during my phat arse eat anything days I'd go after dem der cookies. Especially the raspberry cheesecake ones.

The only one close to me doesn't do egg white sandwiches or the soup I liked anymore. And I'm trying to not be a fat arse so almost no reason to go. Would rather go to a random chinese restaurant or Chipotle 9/10 times.

Subway is the biggest chain in the US, with nearly 24,800 locations, almost as many as Starbucks and McDonald's combined.

Subway's parent company, Doctor's Associates, reported 2020 revenue of $689.1 million, down 28% from 2019′s net sales of $958.9 million, according to franchisee disclosure documents. The sandwich chain has also been steadily shrinking its massive store footprint since 2016. It ended 2020 with 22,201 U.S. locations.




It's a cheap, decent sammich with chips and a drink and you spend less than a lot of other fast food places and get decently healthy food.
