I live in Tulsa and those numbers would be correct before covid.

Most decent rentals were in the $800-1000 range, now they are minimum $1500 and close to $1000 even in the ghetto areas.

Median house cost has shot up as well, house that were $150k are now $220+

Florida MUST be in the top. The people are literally so retarded here, you would think it was either another country or something was going on. It has always been this way for decades. One of my friends recently moved to San Antonio. Seems like a nice place TBH. I've visited many times, but I never considered moving there until now.

I am relocating my family this January.

- 1st choice is San Antonio
- 2nd choice is anywhere between Dallas, Austin or Houston. Or even Corpus.
- 3rd choice is Tampa, Orlando or any other nicer towns in west FL.

Accepted an offer for a Dallas job so that's where we are going. Can't wait to leave NY lol.

How is Tulsa these days? I was looking at some videos of it a few weeks ago and to my surprise its not the best place to live at, well in the AA community

That really depends on your definition of ghetto. Someone from Iowa or Nebraska would probably think the entire city is ghetto while someone from Atlanta could find a couple non ghetto areas. The middle class lives almost exclusively in the burbs though

OKC was a good time when I went there 8 years ago. Bricktown ( brick distict?) was super cool.

Houston probalby used to be on the list, but we've been going up ever since Hurricane Harvey. Wood not recommend. We have 700 to 1 Mosquito to people ratio. and many people are not any better than mosquitos

Lmao my wife actually sent me that second house a few days ago, I remember the stone-facing on the island and the weird shower. Didn't like the location though, we'll probably end up buying a house closer to Canyon Lake or New Braunfels which will put us right in between San Antonio and Austin

OP’s title: most affordable “big cities” in the USA

Proceeds to list a bunch of midsized cities.

If we’re talking truly big cities, then you’re going to only want to consider metro areas with a population of 4 million+. Under that criteria, you’re going to want to look at Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston and Phoenix for a low COL.

When people tell me I shouldn’t live in CA because of the COL they tell me to move to somewhere like Tulsa lmao.

Bro rent is 1500$ minimum in most cities now with any jobs. I’m no better off trying to save in another city unless I can stay with family (don’t have any of that lmao) and split a place or something.

How do they not realize hyper inflation is happening everywhere in this country ?
