Uhhh id suspect she was paying off the mortgage via a job?
Not 100% sure about sole custody not have I dont any research to try to figure out what the situation is but in America id imagine its pretty hard to take a child away from a mom and get sole custody.

Money is all relative. X amount to some people is nothing while it is "a lot" to others.
So if the dude paid off her mortgage with good intentions of enabling the child to spend more time with his mother and possibly himself AND he can afford it no problem.....whats the problem here?'

For the record, I wouldnt pay off an ex-GF's mortgage.....but I also dont have any kids with an ex-GFs either so I cant say what I would do.
