To be fair, most contemporary american houses are built like utter chit and made with poverty materials and quasi disposable building techinques.

I mean look at this bullchit structure. Looks like a fuken toy model

Add abunch of poverty plywood and drywall and bam you've got a house for 500K...

Now compare that to aesthetic, durable, timeless and solid concrete and masonry

Just lol @ spending half a million in a poverty framed and plywood mcmansion with the most horrid and poverty materials. American architecture is a joke and a borderline scam.

People in LA are superficial and do this, it's not shocking or far-fetched.

how anyone finds inspiration to spend $600k on some basic-ass suburban home is beyond me.

But everyone is doing it. Mind=blown.

Yes traditional construction is a lot more durable, hell even some of the literal huts made in Latina america are made with mortared stone and hardwood roofing lmao. The thing with the bullchit frame + plywood method is that is just too fast and convenient for develeopers/builders I never understood why american home buyers wont demand more durable houses, since I was a little kid I remember seeing footage of tornado/hurrican striken zones of america with all the poverty framed houses being reduced to rubble, only to have them built exactly the same...

Is concrete and cinderblocks just so expensive over there?

I'm not even trolling like always this time, I'm legit curious about this subject never really could understand why home buyers let themselves get cucked so hard by greedy developers.

A lot of truth to this too. Our crawlspaces are probably the main cause of issues that people run into, and repairs can easily get into the 10k-30k range.

You're building a barely ventilated enclosed space over wet soil in a humid climate that is supporting tens of thousands of pounds. Surely nothing is going to go wrong. I used to work a job where I was in 5-10 crawlspaces a day in southern Virginia, and I rarely came across one that didn't have mold or moisture issues.

Most homes in the southeastern United States built in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s were built on a crawlspace, and most of them require proper encapsulation, but very few are fully encapsulated or have an insufficient encapsulation.

Why aren't cinder blocks more widely used? Imo is the goat construction material, modular, durable, has good thermal insulation, fire and earthquake resistant, etc. Price shouldn't be an issue since is widely used in legit poor countries.

You can add any kind of finishes on top of it, run pipes through the hollow space etc. A concrete based house with minimal maintenance will last for generations.

I dont have too many shortcomings, I live a very comfortable life. Not as wealthy as you (seen all the pics and 50 watches you have) but in my experience most people in my extended family or friends group that are legit rich Before the age of 50 got a very lucky break somewhere along the way. Trust fund, inheritance, being given a business/property - which is turn was their big break towards riches.

Legit the most retarded friend we have is rich as fuark now because he inherited 3.6M at 25 years of age. You're going to tell me that it was all him?

Very, very few people go from zero to multi-millionaire on their own before the age of 50.

On the cinderblock point:

They're absolutely used extensively in florida for most residential home builds. A better alternative is poured concrete walls.

The original suburbia track homes that popped up in the 50s and 60s were all concrete block. THEY'RE STILL AROUND.

You know what's not around? Houses from the 70s and 80s that were made from wood frame....

There's absolutely no point to wood frame houses in moist areas. So, people have kinda caught on. But there's new construction going on in my area for apartments and they're the chittiest wood construction I've ever seen. They're selling these 1k sq/ft condos for $300k.

I'm not hating, facts are facts. You guys are the ones getting defensive about it.

Getting a lump sum of insane amounts of money out of thin air will help you to get where you want to be.

What things do you need to do in order to maintain a house?

Serious, it's new to me. Change air filters on HVAC, I know that. Make sure there's not too much moss on your roof? What else?

literally phuckin dont be a nasty phuck and clean once in a while and situationally and hiring people isnt expensive. and when foundation does phuck up its either the person who built it that was cheap with their budget or the builders were or its just the demographic in which you live that can just have way too wet soil like a foot in or whatever and or whatever pests your state has or environmental issues.

[Img]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfAHtl2WAAEgy0z.jpg[Img]
Different building styles for different locations based on what's available and cost efficient. I agree your first post in this thread those homes look way more badass. But you're talking adding a million dollars to construction costs for those materials.

If it comes down to spending 250-500k for a 3 or 4 bedroom home with 2-3 bathrooms and a garage. And spending 1 million + for a home like those you posted. Its just not an option for most people.

ESPECIALLY since if your house gets completely wrecked/destroyed and you have good insurance you can actually come out ahead.

As far as seeing hurricanes wreck the gulf cost. We're talking about 100+ mile per hour winds, flood surge and tornadoes wrecking homes. Etc. We have plenty of well build wood plantation homes (Yes where they had slaves) that are 100-300 years old. They are still standing just fine.

I know someone that lives in a 300 year old plantation home. On the gulf coast.

who gives a phuck if its all him or not. your retard friend is out spending money and slaying and you're trying to prove a point thinking anyone would give a phuck if his money was earned or inherited.. all money spends the same. and dont be mad at your friend cause his family was smart enough to be able to do that for him and make that much while yours wasnt. be happy for him. and with having that money he will learn way more lessons than you would in school and will be calling you the retard friend in no time. while you sit here and try to make yourself feel better by saying he didnt earn it and do it all himself.

pointing out facts, isn't being whiney.

if that's what you're getting from it then you're just not getting the point. You're the one of the defensive, probably at TF baby in denial?
i imagine you talking to a girl outside and your boy pulls up and she comments on his nice car or something and you're 100% to be the ******* to be like "well he actually inherited that money and hes not smart and im actually smarter than him he didnt even make any of that money he got by himself." and then smile in his face and be like hey bro! **** probably even agree for him to pay for your lame ass too.

Serious, it's new to me. Change air filters on HVAC, I know that. Make sure there's not too much moss on your roof? What else?
It's mostly water intrusion issues, drainage issues, window & door seals, plumbing, roof, and crawlspace maintenance. It's a good idea to keep trim painted(or replaced with vinyl or aluminum).

Houses settle over time, and sometimes that settling causes issues. You have to keep up on just needed repairs. That's 90% of home ownership.

If you have something like a pool, generator, sprinkler/irrigation system, or any other home add-on, it's going to up the maintenance considerably.

A lot of homeowners just change the air filters and think it's sufficient. It's not.

thats not maintenance that's repairs.. you stated things people look for before buying a house.lol. if you had everything fixed that you stated you wouldn't have even care about that for the next how many ever years or until a natural disaster happens. unless youre looking a mansion in the middle of a swamp..

lol if you were to talk about a car and not a house you would be saying "its mostly transmission issues, blown head gasket, busted axel etc. thats 90% of car ownership. alot of car owners think you just change the oil and think its sufficient. its not." when something breaks fix it. wow who would have thought
